Why is it that when I am either reading or working on the computer, my buddy Thor always has to want pets and is right in my face, but when I'm just relaxing on the couch he wants nothing to do with me? LOL, maybe it's just a cat thing.

I've heard that when a kitty head butts you, it's a sign of true affection. Thor head butts me alot, and he also does it to furniture. But more recently started doing it to the dog, who I've always thought he disliked. Could my Little Buddy Thor be starting to like the dog?

Because (as someone has in their siggy - I can't remember who) "Dogs will watch you work; cats will sit on your work."

I believe that the head butt thing is a sign of affection, but also a sign of possession. Thats my guess. I'm sure one of the experts here will elaborate soon.

It's funny cuz my little princess Angel, loves to be on my lap, and if another cat or the dog comes to close to "her" mommy, she whacks them! Thor and Mason aren't this way. Mason never head butts anyone or anything, but Thor does it to everything! So, I guess, he either loves everything, or everything belongs to him!

That is SO true - I was scrapbooking last night in Harley's book and he insisted on laying/sitting on the pictures and paper....I don't even notice it anmore, I just figure if I'm working on it, reading it, typing it or writing it - so is Harley

Head butting can also be scent marking - he might just be counting the dog amongst his possessions - or trying to make him smell better?
