Jordan often will meow while he digs in his litter box. It's not a regular meow, it's his aggitated meow. He meows with his mouth closed when he's irritated or when he wants something. He stops when he is actually going potty. He's been doing this for a long time & I often watch & listen to make sure he's not straining. He seems fine, but I'm wondering if anyone else has a cat that "sings" while they dig?

Sometimes Rosie does that when she's digging. She'll dig down fast, stop then turn around and dig some more, then turn around again and dig again, and when i hear the digging getting faster i know she's ready to do what she has to do, but in between the digging she gives out a tiny cry as if to say " Oooooh quick it's coming!!"

The look of bliss on her face when she's happy with where she's dug is priceless though!.

Twitch meows before she enters the box. She meows as she digs in the box. The real kicker is the fact that she has a "poop song" & a "pee song" as we call them. She seems to have a different meow for whichever she is doing. I don't mind it & she has always done it. It is quite the conversation started when you have guests. "what's that?" "Oh, that's just the cat singing her potty song! Oh wait, she pooping!"

It makes me feel better to know that it's not just my Jordan. The first couple times I heard it I was worried he might have a problem, but I keep a close eye & he goes regularly so I was prety sure it was behavioral & not a health issue, but hearing this makes me feel better.

Harley does the same thing!

I just laugh when I hear him meowing and then notice that he's at his litter box

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
YAY!!
Garfield isn't weird!!

Ok, well yea he still is.

But he has always done this as well.

He actually screams (its still a meow, but VERY loud). He stops as soon as he starts his business.

I thought it was maybe because when we bought him (everyone I think knows he was on the verge of death from Coccidia tearing him apart inside) He would eat and the food would go straight through the other end with blood. He could never make it to the litter box. And I thought that was maybe why he screamed this way. Like maybe he screams in excitment that he actually made it to the box.
