my cat just goes on and on. At all times of the day but not every second. Thank god.

My cat just yells loudly and softly but at time it goes on for 15 mins or so. Disturbing everyone while their asleep. She hasn't done it all the time, it started last year. As soon as she had to go in to the vet for some issues. Then my other cat went in to and sadly he had to be put down later on. Every since that month, it seems like ever since she went to that vet for those couple of days. She's never been quiet since. She's old to, as was the other cat. We thought maybe getting another cat would make her calm but that ofcourse didn't work.

it's just so annoying to wake up at 4 AM every day to try and calm her down. It seems like she never sleeps for more than 4 hours a day. Before she goes off like a alarm. She takes naps but everyone is so used to her yelling, when she is quiet were just happy. This has been going on probably since may of 2005.

any idea what could be a problem or solution?

What were the issues that sent her to the vet?

Have you tried Rescue Remedies or any of the Bach Flower Remedies on her?

She sounds either stressed or ill- how old is she?

When she cries, how do you react to her?

bad tooth and i think urinary problem

no rememdies

i'm going to say 12 but i'm not 100% sure. Other people know though.

well when she yells at night, ofcourse there's yelling back. Which i know won't help at all. Other times the usual shut up(especially if it goes on for 15 or more mins) or just picking her up and putting her next to someone. Which works but she doesn't sit their long.

Is she healthy? Have you taken her back to the vet for a senior panel and evaluation?

When she cries, as hard as it is, don't yell at her. She could be missing her feline friend, she could be stressed, she could be ill. Yelling will add to her stress, and raise your blood pressure. It really doesn't solve anything.

Try paying attention to her only when she is quiet. No other time. If that means a brief 3 second pet, then fine. But only when she is not meowing. Otherwise, she will keep training you.

Is she Siamese at all?

If she meows at night, try burning a few nightlights for her

Also invest in a couple of Feliway Comfort Zone Room diffusers by Farnum Pet and plug those in.

Buy some Bach Aspen or honeysuckle and put a few drops on her tongue and see if that doesn't help

Hi, we had the same problem twice over the years, and both times nothing stopped it but getting another cat to 'replace' the one that had gone - and it stopped it so fast (the minute the new cat came in the door) we couldn't believe it. Your cat feels alone (as a cat) in the house, and while he loves you as always, he needs another cat around.

Only after you've made sure she's healthy and addressed any possible sources of physical problems or pain,

As long as she's healthy, this really does work. I'd unknowingly allowed two of my senior cats to train me to pet them and pay attention to them when they meowed. It wasn't long before I had two cats who meowed at the top of their lungs all day, and I couldn't figure out how it had happened. Untraining has taken a while, but it's really helped. Now the cats will usually walk up to me and look at me when they want attention, rather than yowling.

Make sure she doesn't have any reason to complain (empty water bowl, food bowl, etc.), then ignore her completely when she meows, other than to look indirectly at her to make sure she's OK - don't yell at her, don't touch her, don't even make eye contact.

Then (this may be the hard part), when she's being quiet, even if only for a moment, be sure to pay attention to her & give her pets. Once she starts being quiet more consistently, it can be easy to forget about her because she's no longer calling attention to herself, but it's really important to continue to give her the attention she needs while she's quiet and not when she pipes up meowing, so she understands that she doesn't need to howl for attention.

The Feliway and Rescue Remedy can really help too, if she's stressed.

What is Bach Aspen? Will this help a kitten of mine sleep during the night? Right now he is awake most of the night and getting into all sorts of trouble, such as biting my lamp shades, playing with the blinds, etc. I would keep him out of the bedroom, but my other kitten is just fine sleeping with me and would hate to kick only him out. Is this something of "sleeping" aid for animals? Where can it be purchased?
Thank you
