And I LOVE it of course. I am now a preschool teacher for 3 year olds. VERY stressful but love it anyway.

(**Names have been changed)
To start there are 3 teachers-Me, Julie and Marie. The other day I was trying to keep the kids at the table until I got the cots out for nap, which we do everyday. Well from Day 1, I knew that Julie did not like me. The only time she talks to me is to DEMAND, not ask, to do something for her. Julie is the kind of person that does not do work and thinks everyone should do it for her. Well anyways, trying to keep children at bay while trying to put cots out is difficult. Marie was cleaning out paint cupboards so couldn't step away(3 year olds would have a field day!)It got out of hand and fast. After laying cots out(by the way weren't even to the assigned child because I was so frustrated)Julie comes back and starts saying "Well that child shouldn't be there and that isn't so and so's cot and they should be there" I got fed up and went on break. So the next day, I hear Julie is spreading rumors about me like we are in high school again. Just to say we are all in our 20s. She is saying AWFUL lies about me being very mean to the children when she is the one doing it. She picks her favorites and no one else is good enough. I will take a toy from Maggie at naptime and she will cry so Julie will say "Oh Maggie it's okay. Come here." But just today, one of the girls was going to ask her a question and right in the middle of the sentence, Julie says no and the little girl started crying and Julie laughed. She makes my job HELL and I dread going on Fridays because Marie isn't there but Clair is and Clair and Julie are really good friends so I basically do everything by myself. Three girls already have told a manager what is going on and that anything Julie tells her about me is a lie. I am going to talk to my boss tomorrow and tell her that after a week goes by and Julie hasn't changed her attitude toward me I need to be transferred to another group. It is getting old. My boss has talked to Julie today and knows I am going to meet with her tomorrow. I hear that there have been problems with Julie making other girls jobs bad before and am wondering why there hasn't been anything done. I will not get into the things that she does to the kids though. From a person who doesn't know me, isn't this kinda low? One girl is saying she is intimadated by me. How immature is this and what should I say to my boss tomorrow? Sorry for the rant.

That sounds ridiculous. I'm sorry that you have to put up with this pathetic woman, sounds like she should be in daycare herself, not running it! I hope your meeting goes well. "Julie" should be getting transferred, not you.

Yeah, really. And she doesn't even know you.

I had to deal with someone like that from my last job. For some reason she liked me, so I was the only one in the office that didn't get backstabbed by her, but she would make comments about other people that were VERY unnecessary and some distasteful for the workplace. So I have a good idea of what you're talking about.

This girl, from you described, is indeed intimidated by you. She's probably very insecure and thinks that she'll lose her job because of you. She's probably never been reported in the past which is why no one has does something about her or the preschool you work at has a union-type of administration where MUCH evidence is necessary in order to be rid of someone.

My advice: Yes, report it to the boss and be professional about it. Reiterate how much you like working there, but this person is making you feel uncomfortable. Cite children that you have witness her being mean to, and maybe even co-workers that reported information back to you. I wouldn't report co-workers treatments by her as that's more tattle-telling.

If the boss doesn't do much about it (and that's the reason WHY nothing has been done), don't
, simply stand up to her. If she makes a child cry and she laughs, tell her that wasn't nice of her. If she's pulling stuff like that, that can really mess up a child psychologically if you think about it (child is learning that they're suppose to laugh when they make someone cry). If you do see that stuff again, I would be the adult in that situation and pull the child aside and comfort the child.
