Cat's claws while play fighting with one another.

Our two cats, probably like everybody elses, love to play fight. One will lay on its back and pull the head of the other down with its front paws and start kicking the head with the back paws. Has anybody ever seen or heard of one cat getting poked in the eye by the other cats claws accidentally? Tyson's left eye wasn't opening all the way yesterday and I wondered if he may have gotten kicked or maybe even bumped his head on something. It looked like it was getting better later last night though so it appears to not be a big deal but I'll keep an eye on it.

I was just wondering how dangerous those claws could be while they are kicking with the other's head right there.

It's happened with my batch - every now & then one of them will sport a scratch on the nose or face.

You can cut down on scratching damage by trimming their claws. Click here for instructions.

Yes, it happened to me. That is why I start trimming nails at 4 WEEKS of age and do it regularly. My litter of Russian blue kittens were playing and the one brother swatted the other in the face (claws out). The kitten (my show kitty) had to get his eye stitched shut for a few weeks to heal. The vet told me if it had been just a bit further over, he'd have lost his eyesight.

He had a little scar tissue but still made his Grand Champion in ACFA as an alter.

So after that, I really check nails more then most people
