Have any of you experianced an increase in appetite of a queen right before she goes into labor? From my calculations my queen is due in about 3 days. She is really hungry today. I know most queens lose their appetite with the onset of labor but can it be the other way around?
Maybe my calculations are off on her due date but a couple of days ago she was showing all the signs of going into labor and now she's not

My experience has been that 2 of my queens, have a decreased appetite, but a few days before labor they decide to eat all they can and will continue to eat up until they are delivering. The first time it happened, I kept saying she should be due anytime now, why is she eating!!
She would mostly sleep, but would snack very frequently. She might be one of those girls that want to keep you guessing and keep you on your toes.

If you can put her nesting box right beside your bed with her food and water close by, and you can hear if she needs you if it is at night. When it gets close for one of our Mommies to deliver, I sleep with one eye open it seems. My Lucy is due on or around February 5th!! This is her first litter, so we will see what her labor routine is going to be soon.
Let us know when the babies arrive!!

Mine have done both (eat and not eat) so I wouldn't count on it for a "sign". However, I have found that if you gently squeeze the nipples and get the clear colustrum out, they usually will deliver within the next 48 hrs. - I rely more on that then eating habits
