Cat beds??

Anyones cat actually use thier cat bed??

Like those kind that you buy in the store...

Because all my life, we had dogs and cats back home, but they never ever used thier beds..

So I havent bought my kitties one because I have always thought they would just lay where they want to anyway. They just look so comfy, and I would LOVE to give my kitties that luxury, but some of those beds are quite expensive, and I wouldnt want to buy something that they would never use.

some of Mine do like the cat beds. One of my Siamese sleeps in hers every night and some during the day. I have 5 cats only two like the beds the other 3 won't use them.

I have never bought any cat beds...just made them out of their "baby" blankets and I usually put them where they sleep and they don't mind.

I do want to get them what is called a "buttercup" or "tulip" bed. I think they can make them with catnip, so it attacts the kitty to it even more.

this thread really made me smile, I bought two cat beds and made several cushions and donuts. Abi uses none of them. she is happiest sleeping on a pair of my socks or the window sill. Her cat tree and the cat table I made are huge successes, a tree is definitely worth the money. I hung a small balloon from one of her scrtaching posts and she boxes with it. it's REALLy adorable.

mine do. that being said i make most of my beds.

My cats use them if they are placed in a spot they like. I have a bed on top of a cupboard and one on top of a pantry closet and both of those are used alot. Anywhere else I place a bed it does not get used.

I have never had a pet use a bed. My cats don't even sleep in the same place every night. Sometimes they sleep on the foot of the bed, a favorite chair, or a stack of paper. Does anyone else have a cat that sleeps on paper?
My two do but it's a padded dog bed that they can both curl up together in

And as for paper, give them a postage stamp and they'll sit on it!

I have a kitty that likes to sleep on one of those plastic grocery bags...lol

Paper - Yes! Nismo falls asleep on the huge pile of uni notes Mark leaves on the desk beside the fish tank.
We got 2 kitten beds when we got Sleeves and he occasionally fell asleep in one of them. Nismo now sleeps in Sleeves' little blue one quite a lot as it's underneath a radiator, she also sleeps in a shoe box... and on Sleeves' chair (my favourite cream chair in my livingroom) and at night she burrows down under the covers, actually that reminds me last night I was fast asleep and she sunk her teeth right into my backside OUCH! anyway..
Sleeves generally sprawls out on the carpet, the cream chair, or on top of the cat tree. I felt bad that he didnt have an actual bed so I got one from Pets at home and put it in a spot he usually sleeps underneath a radiator and he's not in the least bit interested. Ive left it anyway...

We bought a heated cat perch and the cats fight to sleep there. I am planning on buying a few more this year. They are pretty cool, though it took some doing to get the cord out of the reach of inquisitive kitty claws.

My Dori likes to sleep in her bed with "Pookie" her teddy

Your cats sleep at night?!?!?!

I wish mine would.

I have found mine prefer the ones I make them to the ones I bought - with the exception of the pet sofa bed we bought for them - I sprinkle a little catnip into the ones i make though. But generally if I take them off my sofa and put them n one of their beds they will just lie back down and go to sleep on it handmade or bought

I didn't think they did until I saw this

And it's upside down.

Awww

Our cats never used to use their beds, until I started putting them up high (on the dresser, the storage chest, on a stack of boxes, etc.) - now they sleep in them all the time.

Right this minute two of mine are playing with a cat bed. One is hiding under it (it is upside down) and attacking the other. Occ I will find them sleeping on an upside down bed. Mine do use them- we have some on night stands next to our beds, and some on chairs in the basement. Right now one is in the computer room b/c they were kept in here overnight earlier in the week before their spay/neuter so they couldn't eat the big boys cat food. I think it's funny when two or three try to get in one bed. I like the beds I got from petsmart- they were only 15 bucks. The fluffy soft one i got at target seems be taking quite a beating and I find shreds of it around the house.

i made my cat a bed he loves it and he almost sleeps in it all day.

My three sleep where they like, but they all have a passion for their radiator hammocks - they rotate so they all get chance to sleep on it during the day!!

Molly always has the hammock in our room though as Tibby has his pecial blanket on a pillow (by my legs) and Willow sleeps on an odd cat throw I got for Molly from Ikea!! Luckily she didn't take to it!

I never thought of doing that! PJ loves to go up on things, and Teddy is starting to do that now. We're trying to figure out where we can put a tree, but I never would have thought of putting the beds on something high. I'm going to try that tonight!

Teddy uses a bed occasionally, but he mostly sleeps in MY bed. PJ sleeps on whatever... she doesn't care. She is particularly fond of boxes...

Mine use beds as long as they are on top of things. But their most favorite are the tents and other hidey hole type beds that I make for them. Biggest hit - my Cat Camper!

Haha maybe not all night... they fall asleep after we do and wake up at about 5am and the bedroom is a great place to play at this ungodly hour apparently...

Absolutely adorable!!! My cat likes the fleece blankets too! He has a couple, but when I brought the first one home it was like he knew it was for him. When I'm watching tv he curls up on it next to me. He has a cat hammock, that I got recently. I think he is afraid of it. I'm going to try the fleece blanket in one of the beds tho. That is a cute idea.

Riley won't sleep in a cat bed. I'm glad though; I have three siblings and he is very nice - he visits all of us during the day and at night he will take turns sleeping on our beds of his own accord. He's so good, he doesn't play favorites with us.
So he sleeps in our beds, not his own.

I had luck getting one of the elderly girls to sleep in a catbed. We got one that was stuffed with cotton, not a foam bed. They never liked the foam beds for some reason. I think what made her really like it was the fringe though. All along the edge, it has a fringe about 1 inch long. She bites it and rubs her face in it. It also has a matching pillow, also fringed. So she sits in her bed and bites at the fringe. Eventually, she just goes to sleep in it.

I have two cats and 5 cat beds and they use all of them. At night they sleep in a large bed that I put right next to my head in my bed but during the day they use the other beds I have spread around my room.

No, the cat bed pretty much seems to be decoration.

There is an adorable one that Petsmart sells. Its a basket with a hole for the cat to go inside then there is room for the cat to lay on top of the basket as well. So cute! I may give it a try one of these days.

Ours use them. Of course we got them initially for showing and they used them in the cage. So when we got home, they still used them to sleep in - they like the round soft beds the best.

One reason yours never seemed to use them could be if you put the beds on the floor. Our beds were up high - either on our bed or on a dresser. Cats don't like sleeping on the floor.
