How does my cat know its me after a shower?

I think this is a stupid question but after I shower and wash my hair I dont think I smell the same, and abi sniffs me and its ok with her. so i wonder what she is smelling that is consistent and doesn't get hidden by clove soap or aveda shampoo. of course she knows my voice AND her name. but I'd love to know whatthey are smelling. Anyone want to hazard a guess?

My understanding is that a cats sense of smell is at least 100 times better than ours.
I'm sure abi can detect your scent even after you shower, in addition she has your sound, appearance and body language memorized.
I know our cats love to wait outside the shower enclosure for petting after we get out.

Harley knows its me because generally, he's in the bathroom or in the shower on the ledge with me!

I agree with Kai Bengals. Even after a shower you still have a distinctive scent which a cat cat smell.

You are still giving off pheremones even after you have had a shower. And as a cats sense of smell is much more sensitive than ours, they would be able to tell you are you.

I guess if she saw you go into the shower, she knows you're the same person coming out. Yeah, you smell different, but she can see you, hear your voice, and probably is smarter than you think!

They probably like the way you smell after a shower, because I know they really like the smell of shampoo & conditioner in your hair.

And probably whatever soap you use, is what the smell most of you that day anyhow.

That's what Pandora does. She sits on the tub edge between the shower liner and the shower curtain. She just watches. Funny kitty
