mittens had surgery on 12/14/05. He had his collar removed on 12/29/05. He is doing better, but we are still trying to get rid of the infection. Here are some pics I posted in another thread...

Yeah that's what my cats had done to them, that's also what we use at the shelter i work at

Some of the kitties in these photos, are wearing e-collars for surgeries other than neutering & spaying.

The glue technique sounds more comfortable for a straight forward spay & neuter but possibly not appropriate for a different kind of surgery.

Glue vs. sutures would be an interesting thread in the Health forum.
Please start one. We can always use more info.

when Pixel first had her severe herpes flare-up, & had not been diagnosed, she was so over-grooming herself that she was really having hairball problems. the first vet gave me ointment for her sores, which of course she attempted to remove, so i tried the e-collar. she was backing up everywhere! i felt so sorry for her - & then she was finally diagnosed properly, & i was able to remove it. here she is in her e-collar, with ointment all over her face...poor baby!

Sweet Pixel, just look at you in your collar.

I know that you are better now but I still want to give you a hug.

Mittens ... I think that Sandra did not want to embarrass you or make the other kitties feel bad by telling you how handsome you truly are..

Lady Sophie...should we curtsy, when you wear your Elizabethan Collar?

I'm lucky...my vet says that when my kitty gets spayed that her sutures will be internal and she will not need an e-collar.

Thanks Rigel & Milky.

Sadie had her stitches removed this morning.

No more e-collar for her.
