Hello,

I just have a question. One of my kittens (about 8 months old) eats a bit too much and is getting chubby. The other one, Chihi is fine as always. So I went ahead and got a lite food from "blue spa select". Very nutritious and a good brand. The dry food is lite and as far as can food, Chichi gets the hairball controll one because her hair is longer and Wesley got the lite one again. I then went to the web site and looked up this brand of food in the "lite" section. It says that it's only intended for older cats who are inactive and have slow metabolism. It also mentions that it's not for kittens as they are never overweight. Well, first of all, they haven't seen Wesley. He is a bit big for his age, although I am not sure how much should the cats weigh at 8 months of age. Second, I already bought two packs of that dry food and a few cans, would it be so terrible if I continue to feed him this lite food? If not, how do I get him to lose weight?

I think it would be a good idea to have your Vet evaluate your kittens weight.
At 8 months of age, a chubby kitten is usually a healthy kitten. I'd rather have a kitten with extra ounces, than a skinny one.
Let your Vet examine your kitten and give you an opinion, it'll go a long way towards your peace of mind.

Did you get the worming medication from your vet? If not and you used over-the-counter medication which don't always work, your kitty may still have worms.

A vet visit (with a fresh fecal sample) is definitely called for and soon.

Actually what happened, last fall he started having a diarrhea and I pulled a round worm out of his butt. I freaked out and took him to the vet immideately. His belly was a bit rounded also, since I got him. They gave him some treatment, orally and a shot. Then they told me to come back for another treatment 2 weeks later. I did. The vet said that this should be sufficient. And the diarhea stopped as well.

He seems healthy otherwise, but he likes to eat. Sometimes I have to take away his food bowl, because I fear he won't stop eating untill he bursts. My other cat, Chichi knows pretty well how much food she needs, she eats a bit and leaves when she is full, if he continues to eat after that, I just take away his plate. So I got this lite dry food (the brand is very ritch with nutrients) thinking that if I live it out for the day, it worn't harm them too much. But now I am worried that he might not get all the nessesary nutrients he needs. I think what I needed to do instead is to switch him from kitten to adult food and just start monitoring how much food he eats. I trust her.
