Twice a week would be too much for me too actually.

Wow, that is almost exactly my recipe! LOL! Brown a pound of burger, seasoned with garlic, add canned sauce, and pour over cooked pasta. Add lots of parmesan. I love Barilla, really like Mama Cozi's, and like Ragu. I dislike Prego because it tastes sugary to me. Mama Cozi's is the brand at our Aldi grocery store, which is the cheapest place in town! LOL!

If I'm really short of time, instead of hamburger I use frozen meatballs heated in the microwave. I have never tried meatballs from scratch, but may give it a try. I'm sure the 6 hour spagetti tastes better...but I never have that kind of time for cooking except on Thanksgiving!!!

I had to teach the song at camp years ago. Here is the version of the song I taught

On top of spaghetti,
All covered with cheese,
I lost my poor meatball,
When somebody sneezed.

It rolled off the table,
And on to the floor,
And then my poor meatball,
Rolled out of the door.

It rolled in the garden,
And under a bush,
And then my poor meatball,
Was nothing but mush.

The mush was as tasty
As tasty could be,
And then the next summer,
It grew into a tree.

The tree was all covered,
All covered with thick yellow moss,
And on it grew meatballs,
with tomato sauce.

So if you eat spaghetti,
All covered with cheese,
Hold on to your meatball,
Whenever you sneeze.

My extended version...............
Receive seed catalogs and order heirloom tomato seeds, peppers. Buy Onion plants.
Start tomato and pepper seeds indoors in March and on Memorial Day weekend plant veg garden. Water, weed and fertilize all summer.
In September harvest tomatoes, peppers and onions.
To make sauce: Cook tomatoes, garlic, peppers and onions with basil, oregano, marjoram, salt and pepper. Also include olive oil, red wine, parmesan cheese.
I do not measure portions-I add seasoning to taste.
For meat portion brown, ground chuck, ground veal and either ground pork sausage or italian sausage. Once you use these meats you will never use just plain ground beef again. Add to tomato mix.
This will simmer for a while!!!!!
If I was really good I would use my pressure cooker but I fill quart jars of sauce and freeze. I cook a bit thick as it gets a bit watery after freezing and thawing.
I use this in any italian based dish. I made manicotti last week I don't have a recipe either!!

God, you guys. I feel like a lazy old broad for sure. LOL When I want sketty (that's what I call it, too ... lol), I just open a jar of sauce and boil a few noodles. I don't like meat in spaghetti ... I just use sauce and veggies. I snap the noodles in half (to avoid that "authentic spaghetti twirling monster mouthful" thing ... lmao), cook them for 7 or 8 minutes in boiling water, drain them and slosh on sauce and parmesan cheese. I can usually make a box of sketty noodles and two jars of sauce last for six or eight meals. God, it sucks living alone sometimes. ROFL

Oh, and a few years ago I saw a recipe in a magazine contributed by a woman in Minnesota. It was called "Spaghetti Hotdish" and it sounded absolutely DISGUSTING. Layer spaghetti noodles in the bottom of the pan, then a layer of ground beef, then a layer of Ragu, then a horrible conglomeration of cream cheese and half and half ... blah blah blah. I hope I'm not stepping on any Minnesotan toes, but I just wanted to point out that some people who don't like spaghetti are justified, considering the horrible things that have been done to it. LOL

Thanks, Hissy..these are the lyrics I remember, too!

Would it be wrong to make spaghetti (and eat it, of course) before 11 a.m.? I'm starving for it now!

Ground Beef
Roasted Garlic (about a head)
Small Onion (diced)
Italian Seasoning
2 jars Premade Spaghetti Sauce

I take a little bit of butter and olive oil and sautee the onions until they're clear. I add the ground beef, season with salt and pepper. Then add the roasted garlic. I add a few pinches of Italian Seasoning and mix that around for a bit. Then I take a bottle of the spaghetti sauce and add that. I take my pasta and encorporate the spaghetti sauce with pasta. Then I slowly add the second jar until the pasta looks like it's well coated. Then I taste and adjust seasonings, if needed.

I think that must be the TriState version, Deb. Those are the lyrics I remember, too.

Oooo....now I want spaghetti, too. I make tomato sauce and meatballs from my mom's recipe (which I finally wheedled out of her after all these years). It's the ultimate comfort food in our family. I don't have the recipe here, but I'll post it later. It makes a great big pot! Since it's just DH and I at home, I usually make a huge batch of it at once, and freeze the leftovers in 2-person-sized portions. That way, I have some on had for quick dinners when I have to work late or don't feel like cooking.

Yum Yum!!! I am a pasta fiend!

I like linguine best though... Since I like a sweet tomato sauce and my s/o likes a tart sauce we compromise...

No sauce....
some oregano, basil, garlic salt, just a dash of extra virgin olive oil and fresh parmesan on top... YUM

I also love baked ziti (I don't have a recipe for this though cause only my dad made it).

Now I'm hungry... lol!

Wyan, you left out the way I most often eat spaghetti (or more likely, angel hair pasta): uncooked. I love the crunchiness!
