I took Hobbs in as a stray. I have looked through my cat books and he looks a bit like a Tabby but I am not sure. Maybe a mix of some sort. Here is a pic that shows a lot of his markings. I figure the members of TCS can provide some help. Thanks!

He is just an orange kitty.
A DSH beautiful orange kitty. He is what they call a cross-breed and what those crosses are is anyone's guess. That's all they would be without papers, is guesses.

I'm no breeder, but I do know that Tabby isn't a breed, but a colour type. I have two Bengal's they are considered Tabby's, one is a brown spotted tabby and the other is a marbled tabby, but they are both Bengal's

To me, your Hobb's looks like an Orange tabby, domestic short hair cat, of mixed breed.

Tabby is a color pattern. It's like you can have a quarter horse that's a palomino, or a bay or what have you, but it's still a quarter horse. Or a Labrador Retriever can be black, chocolate, or yellow, but they're all Labrador Retrievers. Technically your boy is a red mackeral tabby with white DSH (Domestic Short Hair=mixed breed/alley cat/moggie, etc.)

You can really only be certain of breeding, or lack of same, if you know who the parents are without a doubt, and if the parents' pedigrees are recorded with a reputable registry.

Oh, by the way, I'm assuming he's a mackeral tabby, and not a classic tabby. Mackeral tabbies are the "tiger" stripe variety, and classics are the "swirly" or "bullseye" stripe variety. Hard to tell from his comfy position

To Wenzee and tuxedokitties, Hobbs says "meowwwwwwwwww", meaning "thanks" for the nice words. Hobbs is indeed a big mush, who has me wrapped around his furry cat toes. He is a sweet boy

Do you have another photo of him?
Without knowing the forebears it's impossible to tell whether he may just be a light red, or an actual red dilute. Perhaps the vernacular "orange" is a better designation
