Hello,

Its been a long time since I've posted, but I've got a question thats bugging me. I have 6 cats that have their own private bathroom area under stairs in the middle of my house. I have 3 massive litterboxes....actually long storage tubs that actually hold about 3 times the litter of a standard box. KNOCK ON WOOD...I have never had any litterbox problems. However, I noticed 2 of my cats are standing on all fours when they pee in the litterbox. They will start in a squatting position then stand up half-way through peeing. Since the sides of the boxes are tall, no urine is getting outside of the boxes. However, I'm concerned that this might lead to peeing outside the boxes in the future. Is this a form of spraying? Are these 2 cats each trying to declare the box their own ?

Suggestions?

Could be a territorial issue. If only small streams of urine, or drops are coming out, it could be a UTI. I would add another bin. Try the type that you use for under the bed storage

Just wanted to bump this up as an FYI to the "spraying or overshooting?" thread. My cat is doing the same thing.
