Just wanted to make sure everyone in the US knows that stamps are going from 37 cents to 39 cents on Jan 8. I wouldn't want anyone to mail off a payment and have it returned to them for insufficient postage (which could cause late fees and credit blemishes).

Thanks. Didn't know that. Guess I'll have to get a roll of 2cent stamps since I just a couple of months ago got a roll of 37 cent stamps and it'll probably take me a year to use them!

Well that bites. Dang e-mail and the options to pay bills online!

I use one online bill payment, but I just dont much trust it much,so I still use snail mail for most of my mail. And stamps are just a little thing to make it "go".
And now 39 cents a STAMP! Aaaaaaa!

Thanks for the info though, it is greatly appreciated.

Usually there is a period of about 2-3 weeks where they will allow the lower priced stamps in case they were mailed before the deadline or you hadn't heard.

Canada's are going up to 51c soon

i'd like to know something. If a stamp costs 39 cents, how much does a roll cost?

it just amazes me that the price of stamps keeps increasing. it is stupid when you consider that the post office makes a lot of money off of packages that are sent in the mail from orders on the internet. i usually pay online or in person if i can. i don't trust the post office cause sometimes things get lost or what not. it is good to for your credit, etc. i guess i will be paying more bills in person now.

I'm an office manager. Today, I sent out 275 pieces of mail, many of them as "thank you" letters for membership of our not-for-profit organization, which all need to be hand addressed, with even more actual writing on the inside letters. Ugh!

It's not that I minded going out next monday and getting 39¢ stamps, I just wanted to use of many of our 37¢ jobs, and get rid of them. And I didn't want to apply 2¢ stamps in addition next week.

Soooo...... I got ahead of the game, worked an extra ten hours today, and got the whole lot out tonight. I'm wiped.

All that to save something like 5 bucks.

I don't really think the price is that bad, if you consider how many people handle an envelope, and how far it can be sent, I still consider it a decent deal

I remember back home they (for most stamps) do not put the price on the stamp but just 1st or 2nd class so my mum always bought lots of stamps for the business a few weeks before they went up because they will accept the 1st class stamp even if you paid less for it, but if you buy one with the amount on it you have to add the pennies
