Has anyone else seen this commercial which is for the Mc Value menu at McDonalds. I've seen this commercial every day for the last week and it just makes me SO angry!

There is a little stray dog and it runs up to this lady and she says "Would you like to come home with me? But first of all we need to get you fixed"

Then this man advertising McDonalds comes on and says "Ahhhh the dangers of loose change - how about exchanging your change for an item from our Mc Value menu!"

I just noted about five minutes ago when it aired there was an ad for complaints to the broad casting authority. You think I should write in and complain?

Just goes to show how lax things are here in NZ about desexing!!!!!

That's pretty sad. I doubt they would air that in America though-

I mean I know it's not like you can go out and get a cat fixed for $2 like you can buy a burger but still I think it's sending out a really bad message

You're absolutely right Sam, it is sending a bad message! Save a stray & have him neutered? Meh, I think I'll have a Big Mac instead.

Sad, that.

I think you should definitely write...obviously they know it's dodgy, or else they wouldn't post the site where you can complain.

I agree you should take action. They don't have that ad here in Australia, but if they do I'll join you!

The cats house, we just pay the mortgage..
They'd never show that in the UK! wow Im shocked at that. Definately complain, they should have thought that ad through a little more me thinks...
We have 'Tarrent on TV' here which is basically a programme which shows the most ridiculous TV adds from all over the world, some of them are so politically incorrect you nearly fall off your chair in disbelief, that should be one they add to their collection me thinks!

I have not seen that ad here Sam, but then again, I am not home in the evenings to watch telly - darn w*rk! But that does sound appalling, I would write in and make a complaint. I wonder about contacting the RSPCA and asking them their opinion and seeing if they can back up the complaint that you will make? Gotta show them that it really isn't right.

Another reason for me to boycott McD's. I watched supersize me and decided never to eat it again.

I'm glad they would never show that in America-
here, there are always ads on the radio reminding people and encouraging them to get their pets spayed/nuetered. But still, I cannot believe they would show that anywhere in the first place. What kind of people would think that funny, or make people want to eat at McDonald's?
THAT is ridiculous.

I do think you should definitly send in a complaint letter. Every letter that they get counts, you know. I'll bet a lot of people don't like it, but maybe figure that everyone else is gonna write them anyways, so theirs wouldn't really matter. But if you want your voice to be heard, you've got to do something about it. You know we are all on your side on TCS!

Kellye, it airs all day - too sad.

Thanks for the support everybody. I am going to write in to the complaints department, it just disgusts me.

Nope, still haven't seen it. I really don't watch much telly, I only watch tv on sunday nights, most of the time I just rent a dvd or read a book. Which is probably a good thing because I know I watched too much telly in the US

But I still agree, you need to write and complain and it might make your point stronger when you state facts about spaying and neutering, etc.

Wow Sam, haven't seen that one here yet. Max calls McDonalds `The Evil Empire' and refuses to eat anything from them, and I won't either. They disgust me and that commercial is even worse! Their advertising is ALL offensive, IMO - if I see it I'll write in, too!
