Oh I have to share what just went on in my house... I figured my fellow cataholics would get a kick out of this.

I had a goldfish (Darwin) in a 10gal tank for a while. Being that goldfish really aren't supposed to be kept in anything smaller than a 25gal, I moved him into a 29gal and put him in my office.

This must be the first time Tryon even noticed there was a fish in the house because shes been absolutely enamored with the tank, spending hours upon hours sitting under my bf's desk just watching Darwin swim along.

So tonight I was in the livingroom curled up on the couch with Karma and Buddha (lab/grehound mix and newfoundland/lab mix respectively) when I hear "REEEEEEEEEOWWWWW!" *SPLASH* and see a small ball of fur darting from the office (one end of my house) into my bedroom (the other end of the house).

Utterly confused, the puppies and I went into the office to see the crime scene only to find a very scared fish hiding in one end of the tank and a lake on the floor near the other end of the tank. In my room I found a soaking wet cat hiding under my bed.

Looks like someone finally got brave enough to pay the fishie a visit and fell in the tank in the process! I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe. She still hasn't come out from under the bed!

On the bright side, she probably won't try that again!

I frequently find Twitch treading water in my fishtank.
She doesn't mind, but the fish sure do!
I finally invested in a lid for the tank. It's glass with a piece of plastic on the back where you can cut out places for filter, heater, etc. She broke the glass! It was supposed to be cat proof. I was told the glass would hold the weight of my cat. It holds the weight of a 20 lb. cat, why not little Twitch!?!? Anyway, I superglued the lid together & I plan on investing in a new one ASAP.

I've had an aquarium all along with my cats. Over the years, and many homes, they've alternately been interested and disinterested in said aquarium, depending on where in the house it is. When it was placed near a chair, Jasmine used to love to go fishing....she'd just dip one paw in and swish it around. The aquarium was big enough that the fishies just had to go lower to easily escape her. Luckily there have never been any major incidents like yours.

I would NOT pay for another one....if it was supposed to be cat proof then they`d get it back broken and GIVE me a new one for FREE!

This is most hilarious and also the number one reason I will not be bringing fish into the house! Bandit likes taking showers with us so I'm sure he'd have noooo problem swimmng with the fishes!!

A friend (and cat lover) said she came into her kitchen one day to find the family cat standing in the fish tank. Just standing in it.
