There is always Ebay, too, where you can get awesome clothes you might not find in stores by you, and usually at great prices!! I have bought lots of clothing from eBay, a lot of the stuff listed still has tags from the original stores!

I've found some good stuff on Ebay too. Just read carefully and ask questions - once I didn't read the description carefully enough to catch that the dress fabric wasn't what the photo looked like it was, so Goodwill ended up with it.

AMEN sister!
I have this same problem, but i'm only 23. I feel like the clothes in the juniors are for, well, juniors. I have such a hard time finding the right clothes and work appropriate clothes for my age. I like Express and The Limited, but I have a tough time with my 30' inseam. It's HARD to find clothes for short people (and all the pants in the 'petite' department have elastic waistbands!). I've recently re-discovered The Gap. I love it. Nice sweaters, jeans, etc. Both work and age appropriate for just about anyone. My mom (48) can shop there too - and shopping with mom is always a lot of fun
Good luck!

Well went on a small shopping spree today at JC Penny's. I guess I am either too picky or something cause I didn't find anything that I liked at all
My thinking was on a lot of the stuff was been there done that cause there sure were a lot of "retro" looking clothes

Oh well back to the drawing board.

I'm 48 and full-figured. I also like out-of-the-ordinary clothes. Vintage and consignment stores are favorite haunts. I also like this catalog:

http://www.newport-news.com/?cm_ven=...port%20news%20

My closet contains an eclectic mix of clothes: designer suits, Western wear and Bohemian chic, as well as a few outrageous items.

This is the dress, that I wore NYE:

I just ordered this skirt:

There ARE clothes out there, for us!

You wouldn't say that, if you could see me right now: flannel kitty-print pajamas and red slippers

katl8e, I love that dress! The Pyramid Collection has the coolest stuff.
Does anyone here watch What Not To Wear? I love Stacy and Clinton's sense of style. They are really good at solving problems like the one discussed on this thread. They have taken some really sad cases and made them fabulous. They make me want to buy a new wardrobe, and try to make them proud.

This women knows her stuff. lol. I am only 21, but I know alot of people your age around here that are faithful Newport catalog buyers, as well as the victoria secret catalog. Victoria secret catalog has some REALLY CUTE stuff, but it's like made for all ages.

I always have gone for more of a simple, classic look-I've never been "trendy".
I look for nice jeans that fit me, simple shoes that can go with alot of different things, & nice blouses, usually in cotton, & I'm a jacket fanatic.
Nice, clean classic simple clothes. Layered if the season permits, & interchangeable.
There is no shame in going to thrift shops-some people get freaked out about wearing used clothes, but what's the big deal? Nothing that a run through the washer won't cure. I've seen alot of women, myself included, put together some really nice outfits from thriftshop clothes.
With e-bay, it's risky if you don't know exactly what your size is in a certain brand-everything is "cut" differently.

Ooooh to me the best way to date/age an outfit is to accessorise. I am wont to say I have a PhD in Accessorising!! A scarf, beads, bracelets, belts etc can make all the difference to an outfit, and the best thing is, you can change your whole look just by changing your accessories. And it's not too expensive to stock up and then you get heaps of mix and match options.

My SIL gave me a great bag for Christmas, and I am not kidding, at least five people in my family responded with, `And yeah, you SO need another bag, don't you?'
