I was wondering if anyone had used The Anderson's Clump & Flush Corncob litter and what they thought about it.

It can be very difficult to find WBCL around here sometimes and I seen this last night at a local petstore and its half the price of Worlds Best. I did a quick search and seen someone post about it in 2003 but there were no comments about it.

I've tried a corncob type of clumping litter (not that brand) and didn't really like it - its expensive IMO and the kind I had when it gets wet makes more of a soft sawdust type of spot.

I prefer the normal clumping litter (WalMart brand) and put it in a bag and into the trash.

If you have well or septic I don't think its advisable to be dumping litter down your toilet. (read the advertising of it - I don't believe their claim about the septic sytem).

With 4 big cats I wouldn't dream of flushing
They have got used to WBCL now and if I try using clay they just kick it out so I am trying to find a back up when they don't have any WBCL

it looks the same as WBCL ? It's even made out of the same stuff ?

I haven't tried it though, as it isn't available here. It's hard enough to find WBCL. I have to drive for ages to a pet shop all the way up town to get it (I haven't got no credit cards, so I can't order online).

Not sure, I found some WBCL so bought that, the girl said its made from the same stuff but is different in texture, she also claims it is better at controlling odour... maybe I will try it next time?

Just a thought folks, but we live in a really small town and the local pet supply store doesn't stock Merricks Food or WB cat litter. The owner orders these products in for me. She also said she would charge me no more than the large pet store in the town closest to me. Mind you, I order 3 cases of Merricks at a time (one case per each flavour the kitties like).

Your local pet supply store may be willing to do the same for you.

She actually stocks it - she just never stocks enough of it, each time she orders more bags and they always sell out before I get there, usually she will keep me 2 bags for the month, but Magnum tipped his box over and I needed to replace it. After much searching I found a pet valu that stocks it

Is this like President's Choice corn litter? It comes in a big green bag for $6.99 at Loblaws.
I did a search for WBCL online and the closest place was London, ON. I haven't seen it in any stores near me, but I may just try the PetValu to see if they'd order it in for me.
How much does it cost for what size bag?

WBCL website sites. dind't come up with anything location for toronto on their website.
but both petsmart and superpet carries it.

i got mine at petsmart for $21. it's 17lb + 20%bonus

supermpet have it as well, just the regular 17lb, and they r selling it at $29 so it's much more expensive.

for petsmart i go to first markham place location. (hwy 7 & woodbine)
superpet i go to kenney commons (kennedy hwy 401)

for those of u who use WBCL, how long would it last you before you change the entire litter?
mine is about 3 weeks. so a bag of 17lb would only last me for 6 weeks. but it claims on it bag that it shoudl last 2 cats for 36 days,i have only one so i imagine it would last me 72 days, which is 2.5 months. is it the way i use it that shortens the life of the litter???

I use Swheat Scoop which is a flushable wheat based litter. It's comparable in price to regular clumping litter, it's available at any pet valu. It smells like bread when you put it in the box, it clumps really well and if you don't flush you can always compost.

Plus...there is ZERO dust when pouring or scooping and I don't start coughing like i used to when i scooped regular litter.

(caveat: you may have to change the box a bit more frequently as it can only cover so much odour. i find i have to change my cats peeing box more often)

I don't like using the WBCL for a whole month without changing either. I am not sure how folks do it, but I find it looks and smells yucky after about 10 days. The medium size bag (I guess thats the 17lb ?) lasts me for 5-6 weeks.

I normally do a fill of about 2 inches, then let it run down and refill when it's down to 1 inch. I change the complete litter every 10 days. It does last longer than other litters and does cover smell well, and it forms really good clumps, so I don't mind paying that little bit more (it cost me about £3 more than cheap supermarket litter per month), but I would also like to know, how people keep it for a whole month without it going yucky ? Should I refill more often ? Less ?

I haven't done that...i don't flush the whole amount in one go (i have a lo-flow toilet), i divide it up and flush a few times...but i've never had a problem

does the PC green bag has lots of dust???
i jsut went looking for it at nofrills today, it's $6.99 for 3.2kg (7.04lb) seli.ng for $6.99, which makes it $1/lb

WBCL is $21/17lb which makes it $1.24/lb,
it's not a huge difference.

but i was still wanted try it anyway, but whne i pick up the bag, the touches of it...it seems taht they grind up the corncob really really finely, and i put it back. so i was wondering if it makes lots of dust. if yes i think i won't bother swithcing as the difference in $$ is not huge.

I add a cup or two of fresh to the original litter about every two days and I find that keeps any odour down and I only change out the whole box about once every 6 weeks.

We change the boxes every 2 - 3 weeks but top up every few scoops.

The boys did not take kindly to Swheat Scoop and I found it sticky and messy to clean.

Our local petsmart used to carry the extra strength formula but now don't ever have it in stock although they say they don't not stock it??? But the boys prefer the regular brand. I bought the little pet litter once and my hamster loved it although he ate it so I stopped buying it.

I will have to look at the PC corn litter - i didn't realise they had one - although, I never buy anything cat from PC stores so I probably wouldn't

I have also found that WBCL differs in price ALOT in the stores around here, superpet used to sell the 17lb bag for $28.99 and Petsmart $23.99, Pet Valu sells the $17lb bag for around the same price as Petsmart and its on my way home and I need to stop and give their cat Rudolph a hug so I generally get it there. But $5 is a big difference. Now we get the HUGE bags so if we can't find it for a bit we still have some
It also only $36.99-$38.99 for the 34lb bags depending where you get it.

Also for WBCL buyers - are you a member of their customer reward program?

I didn't find that it had any dust at all. It's a completely different texture from the WBCL though and looks like dark sand because of it's colouration. I think that WBCL uses whole cobs whereas this uses just the center of the cob (without the corn). It is light to handle, one bag fills one box from empty, clumps alright (in my opinion not as well as WBCL but it still gets the job done), smells alright (sweet), and you can flush it if you don't have septic. I've tried both and it's pretty close, but I think when I move out and bring chester with me I'll go back to WBCL if I can. It clumps a bit better. If not, the presidents choice could be a whole lot more convienent to grab and store (smaller bags).

colouration? u mean they dye it? or it's naturally darker??? hm...i think i'll skip the PC ones if it doesn't clump as well as WBCL. thanks very much for ur opinion tho

icklemiss21 where did u get the huge 34lb bag??? and where's a cheaper location? I saw it today in Downtown Toronto for $50 for 34lb bag

and which pet valu u get it from? last time i saw it at the Makrham Rd / 16th location and they have the 17lb bag for $30.
i guess i'll need to try visit as many pet store as i can and check out prices.

and thanks very much for the reward program info, i wasn't aware of it at all.

I've used Worlds best and clump and flush. I found that clump and flush worked well but was dustier. My black cat would come out of the litter a grey colour! The clump and flush is "fluffier" and probably softer on their feet but I went for the one that was less dusty and didn't track as much. So worlds best works for me.
