I am not sure if this belongs in this forum or not (seems more health related). Mods please move if you feel necessary.

Stormy came home from being spayed yesterday. When I picked her up she was drooling all over her kitty carrier. She wasn't making any noises (and hasn't since then either...not one meow). She has always been a fiesty, playful kitten, but I thought for sure spaying her atleast on the day of her spay she would calm down some. WRONG!!!! When I opened the door to her cat carrier she paused for a second and then took off. Back to her normal self and a little more fiesty. I thought at first, she is p.o.'ed because her tail was constantly swinging back and forth and she was constantly on the move. Last night she slept on my pillow for about an hour and then she was up in the blinds pacing pretty much all night. And, still not a sound out of her. I am worried. Any help would be great.

Well, we just got back from the vet because Stormy ripped out both stitches. The vet put in two staples and gave her an antibiotic. I hope she doesn't chew these out.

Back again from the vets just now.
She chewed the staples half way out.
They had to put more staples in and put an e-collar on her. She looks like a space kitty now....
We shall see how long this lasts.

Oh dear!! I personally would keep the collar on her for at least 5 days, as it really isn't good for her to keep pulling them out. I had a very active foster last year who was just as hyper after being spayed, so she was made to wear the collar for 6 days (and the vets were warned so they could keep an eye on her before I picked her up) as I didn't want to risk any coming out.

My daughter had her kitten spayed 3 days ago. She already pulled out all her stitches. She has been acting crazy and splashing in her water bowl and doing things she normally wouldn’t do. She took her back to the vet today, and they put staples in and gave her the cone of shame. She managed to get her way out of the cone on the way home while in her carrier. Does anyone have any suggestions? My daughter is so stressed and she is working extra shifts this week. She also has two other kittens and is now petrified to have them fixed (although she will eventually).

Oh, my gosh. I guess it's normal, then. My little kitty 8 or 9 mos " forgot all her good habits and rapidly developed some new not so polite ones":, such as batting me in the eye when it's time to get up, wheras before she would lovingly "tap" my cheek! I do feel soncere empathy for your and HOPE by now that stitches are healed. What about asking vet for gabapentin, a mild sedative??? Sending love you and support ❤ 🙏🙏🙏🙏
