Soft Claws are snagging

Chloe has had her Soft Claws on for about 2 weeks now and they've grown out enough now that the back end of them snags on things, especially my drapes when she bats at them. (I don't really want her playing with the drapes, but as long as she has on the Soft Claws I don't care.) Today she's gotten caught on the drapes twice. Once my roommate rescued her when she saw her just standing there. I just found her again with 2 of them caught. Once she realizes she's stuck she just stands there with her paw sticking out. I'm sure eventually she'd alert me by crying, but what if I'm not home and she gets stuck like that for a few hours? They aren't grown out past the quick yet so I can't cut them off and replace. Has anybody else had this problem? I don't think they would normally snag but I had to trim them shorter to fit her. Tonight I replaced 2 of them that had come off and they fit with no trimming - yeah! They seem more rounder and smooth and the back and hopefully it won't be a problem once they're all replaced.
What should I do for now?

I also have this problem with Lily. I am waiting for my order to come so I can replace some of hers. I did not cut them shorter to fit, so I do not think that is the problem. Lily's haven't grow out long enought that I can clip them off, either. I haven't found a solution to this other than unhooking her & hoping she doesn't get caught when she is alone. Sorry I cannot be of more help.

You can remove the caps by cutting off the tips, so you're left with sort of a tube over the nail. Then you should be able to work it loose and pull it off. I had to do that on my oldest cat because she didn't shed the caps herself.

*edit* Whether or not you can trim the tips off safely depends on how much shorter you had to trim them to put them on her - you don't want to accidentally trim her quick if her nails are still very short. You can probably judge if there's room to trim off the tips of the soft paws by how long the claws were that lost their caps.

I got the nail caps I ordered today. I ordered small blue, purple, & pink ones. I put them on Twitch & lily's nails where they had shed the old nail caps. I read this & went to try it on Lily. She will put up with her nails being clipped & new softpaws being put on, but apparently this was a step too far & I got bit. I got mom to help & got all of her claws covered, so now she is happy. Thanks!

Hi Chloe's Mom,
My little Ali has got caught 3 times now. Twice on a scatter rug and once on the living room carpet. I was thankful I was home to cut her out. I also have to trim them a little but I am not sure that is the cause. I am currently letting them all fall off and not replacing them. I am worried that she will get caught while I am not home. I really did like them thought because they prevented her from scrathing her big brother.
My best to you and Chloe,
Ali and Midnight's Mom Joanne

I think that is a problem we all have with them. i dont like Phemons getting snagged either. i have let them off her for a bit. i am afraid she will pull to hard and hurt herself becasue she goes crazy when she does get stuck!

What a bummer to hear that this is such a problem! I really like them because I didn't have all the claw marks on my legs from where she jumps onto my lap and it's also been good for the furniture! Also they've grown out so fast and have had to had so many replaced in just 2 weeks that I'm not sure it's worth it. I thought they were supposed to last 4-6 weeks. I think I'll e-mail the company with a complaint about the snagging. It might be my fault that they fell off because it was my first application of them and I may not have used enough glue.

I'd definitely agree with emailing or calling the company. They may have some tips for you to reduce the problem - they have a number & email address listed on the website for questions.

I never had any trouble with them snagging, and they tended to last quite a while on my cats, but my cats are older adults, not kittens. I wish I could be of more help.
