I'm Shaz and I'm owned by my kitty, Leia. I'll let her tell you her story (I'm her secretary since it's hard to type with paws).
Leia says:
In January 2002, I was roaming around from place to place with my mum and two brothers. I was about 12 weeks old then. One day Meowmie's brother, Brett's dog found us. We were camping out in Brett's shed. When Brett and his girlfriend, Andrea, came back later to capture us and take us to the cat haven, my mum and two brothers had gone leaving me all on my own just because I had a big cut in my leg! They took me to the vet who stitched it up for me. Meanwhile, Brett called Meowmie and asked her if she minded sharing a house with me. She said yes immediately. When she came to pick me up at the vets it was love at first site for both of us. She'd never had a cat before - all her family are doggie people (goodness knows why!), but the minute she saw me at the vet's, her heart melted.
At first, Meowmie was going to call me Xena, but then once she saw me she realised I wasn't a "Warrior Kitty". Buffy was her next choice but that didn't fit either. Finally a friend suggested Leia. It fit because Brett's dog's name is Wicket (after the Ewok in The Return Of The Jedi) and he found me. In the movie, Wicket finds Princess Leia in the forrest. It doubly fits because I am a little Princess too .
