How old is Freddie? Most vet's recommend that males be neutered around 5 to 6 months of age. I would not allow him to mount any of the females...it's just too risky. If you cannot afford to get Cookie spayed right now...she and Freddie need to stay away from each other.

I'm glad to read that the rest of the cats are indoor only. Please keep us updated..and again, no interaction between Freddie and Cookie until Cookie gets spayed....abstinence is best.

Ya Jasmine is spayed,

Freddie is nearly 9 months now, he hasnt been trying anything with cookie, now hes obbsessed with Suki, so we've been keeping them in seperate rooms at all times.

2 months is much, much too long to wait in this case. 2 months is a cat's entire gestation period!

He needs to either be neutered immediately (as in within a week) or strictly isolated from your female cat. It only takes a minute for them to mate and it is just not physically possible for anyone to watch them that closely.

well a week is impossible, he needs his shots first, and there spaced a month apart i believe, thats why tis 2 months, and hes been in a different room from the other cats so its all good

Why would you have to wait a month in between? I have never heard of that one before? Some vets will let you make payments at certain intervals if you cannot pay all at once. If you tell the vet your situation, I am sure he would do the shots and neuter at the same time.
Plus I would do the neutering first anyway since that is the number one problem right now. It is almost impossible to keep a male and female apart from each other, when they are both (if not now then soon) wanting to get to each other. She doesn't have to be in heat to get pregnant, it can happen ALL THE TIME. Plus he will cover your house in spray and it will smell terrible.

BTW your cat SUKI is sooo cute I love the shape of her face!

Yes please talk to the vet and explain that you have unspeutered males and females living together, all of age to get pregnant. There is absolutely no reason why you would have to wait a month inbetween shots and a neuter.

(Another reason why it is important to have them done, if one of your girls gets pregnant now, she is really too young to have babies. It would be like a young 12 year old kid getting pregnant, just because they can doesn't mean they should)

Just so you know, there doesn't have to be a wait between shots and neutering. Oscar got his shots and got neutered all at once. I think it's easier on him that way as well.......

Not only can he get his shots and be neutered all at once, he is old enough to have his shots now. So I don't see why you are waiting two months.

I once had a vet who not only insisted that we wait a month between shots and spay/neuter, but that we wait until 8 months to fix our boy and girl. We ended up with kittens, and guess who stood to make money from THAT? Find new vet.

My boys had their shots and neuter all at once. They were a little older than I would have liked but that was because they were severely underweight, being starved when I got them.

Bella and Thunder are spayed and Thunder acts like she is in heat . This is the only time I can pick her up and give her a belly and back rub. When she isn't in the mood, I just get the hissing, scratching, and biting. Why do cats act so crazy  ??
