Hey, I can attest that Pedro was HOME during that attack!
I saw that! I'm with you, all I can think about is how is he EVER going to live this down? The only thing that might be worse would be getting attacked by a herd of Pekingese! "Angry Pack of Chihuahuas!" !

Hey my Grandma's mini-chihuahaua bit my finger once and it hurt!

I bet the poor guy had to report it by regulation. But he's still gonna hear about it!

It's like saying, I was attacked by a rampaging herd of Ragdolls. (Not that Ragdolls would ever expend that much energy LOL!)

I saw this story in today's paper and cracked up. I'm going to send the link to my friend Jen - she has several Chihuahuas.

actually Chihuahuas that come in to the practice most if not all are muzzeled when we work on them, i swear, they think they weigh 100 pounds. and mean as hell when they want to be

I'm not a fan of this breed and I have seen very mean snappy ones!
I have seen very nice chihuahuas.

I think all dogs are nice if raised correctly.

Well, stupid people are having trouble believing it here. Pit bulls and rotweillers being banned and euthanized left and right(not in my town, but it is happening)

The meanest dog I've ever known was a chihuahua. His name was Sir Howard (I'd be mean too with that name!), and he was our neighbor's dog. Their dogs regularly escaped from their yard, and while Nibbles was a sweetie, Sir Howard would attack anything that moved.

well, i can't speak for him. However, i will say that the reason chihuahuas are often bitey is that they are so small, people don't bother training them correctly.

I laughed when I read that, but... When I was a teenager, one of my friends was living with his grandmother, and she had one of the nastiest dogs I've ever met - a Chihuahua who was absolutely vicious. You couldn't wear sandals, skirts, or shorts around there, and had to watch your hands. If you leaned over to pick something up off the floor, the dog would bite your hands.

Awww poor policeman! That really must have hurt - we all know what it's like to have sharp little kitty fangs sunk into an ankle, and often chihuahuas ARE mean little dogs who think they're much bigger than they are. I agree with Wesley - often they're not trained properly because they're little, but they really have some attitudes on them!!

Still, it IS pretty embarrassing!

I had my first "journalist bit by dog" experience this past summer and it was a little chiihuahua that bit me. I'm not a fan of most small breeds although I love corgies!

Haha, i can't stand chihuahuas..-no offense to any chihuahua lovers- but it's just my personal preference. we use to have one named rascle...he was a rescue, we tried everything with him- obedience school, training, positive reinforcement.....but when it came down to it- that dog was just a deamon- he found himself a home with some chihuahua lovers after attacking me numerous times and attempting to attack my niece....needless to say i'm not a big fan of the breed. But i believe temperment varies dog to dog....so i'm not saying they're all bad...i just don't like them....i prefer big fluffy dogs- i have a german-shepherd wolf mix/ and we recently adopted a collie/australian shepherd mix....hehe to make things more interesting my boyfriend is a cop....thankfully he hasn't had a run in with any killer chihchuas lately!

Rotts are really very gentle dogs for the most part. Some of these small breeds chihuahuas, poodles, min pin, ect have a higher tendancy to bite then a rottie. The problem is, when a litle dog bites you can just flick it a way (if you can get a hold of the litle suckers) but if a rott (or pitt) bites they can do some damage. But for the number of rotts vs bites and the number of a small dog vs bites is lower, meaning if you have 100 rotts mabey 5 bites and if you have 100 poodles probley 20 bite, if that makes sense, (not acual numbers of course, but if you think of how many pitts and rotties there are and how many of these millions have acually biten? vs. the number of some of these small dogs there are, and how many of them have biten, the number would be higher, but since they don't do the damage these big dogs can do you never hear about those (usually, any ways)

I guess there's some truth to calling them ankle biters
