I started a thread, but maybe I should have just put this here:

There is an awesome site that lets you track your food intake, even adding your own custom foods. It's http://www.fitday.com. Very useful reports, such as vitamin/mineral intake, etc.

And another excellent site is http://www.mybodycomp.com. It allows you to track your measurements. ALL of them, even odd things like ankles, calves, neck, shoulders, etc. This is extremely helpful for motivation because sometimes you are not losing any pounds but you are losing inches, and maybe in places you don't see them. (Last year when I lost quite a bit of weight, it came off my back first. If my husband hadn't said something, I would have never known because I don't wear tight shirts.)

I'm late getting around to checking this thread, but can I join your group?

I'm doing Weight Watchers, and can use all the support and encouragement I can get! I'm trying to lose a total of about 115 lbs.
I started in August, and am down about 42 lbs so far. I got off track a little during the holidays, so I'm trying to get back into the swing of things now. I also need to start working out more regularly.

I posted on the other thread that another site I like is http://www.dietfacts.com/ it gives nutritional info for a lot of restaurants.

Here... or There... Hmmm
Ok.... I've been doing ok, eating more fiber, and last night for dinner we got to use my new veggy steamer! OH YEAH! streamed brocc! YUMMY! My fave, Kitters too! She ate all of her leaves! One thing though I am noticing today.... (gas) That doesn't make me happy!
I haven't weighed myself though. I think I am just going to wait, I'm not so much looking for pounds lost as going down some pant sizes, so I don't want to fret over pound numbers! It'll jusy drive me nuts!!!

UGH I didn't do so well today - it was super busy and I snacked all day and ran out of healthy snacks
I did stick loosely to my carb/protein/fat goals... unless running around the office like a mad woman counts as exercise I didn't do any today.
Oh and Tari - welcome to the group!

That is true, I read somewhere that you can range from 0 to 6 pounds daily...based on various reasons...that best time to weigh is once a week at the same time. Usually before you eat someone in the morning.

Yep eating someone could definitely make you pile on the pounds

Back on topic, I am looking for a weightloss forum too - many of the busier ones seem directed at one type of diet though... scary thing, I found one (and well frequented by the looks of it) for people who eat less than 500 cals per day
do 2 hours exercise and many involved in the 'other way of dieting'

This is probably the busiest 'normal' website i came across without being exclusively one type of diet:

Well, it's kind of late, but can I join in?

I joined the gym on Monday, started going on Sunday (the s/o has a pass and I got in with him) and did my first "real" workout last night. I'm not really sore although I feel a little stiff.

My goals:

I want to get toned up and lose the extra chunk from my waist and thighs. I don't need to lose weight so much as get toned down.

I'm trying to get ready for competition in march (yey!) and want to be all slim and beautiful by the time I get there.

And some things I thought of while reading the thread:

For those of you who need to rent a dog... how about going to your animal shelter?

Yogurt eaters, try Wallabys yogurt. YUM! The best I've ever had! Tastes great over some kiwi, apple, pinapple and figs. (I combine them to make a fruit salad).

And icklemiss21... maybe try drinking some soy milk in the morning? I always feel sick when I get up and I found that soy helps an aweful lot. Plus, it's got lots of vitamins and good stuff in it.

(Hmm... maybe I talk too much)

This is great, we are getting lots of different people with lots of great tips! I have been so busy with the kids activities, and the litter of kittens...I really haven't exercised regularly. At this rate it will take me until next Christmas to lose a size! But I have made changes in my eating, although I feel I have a way to go. Just knowing we are in this together is helpful to me!

I did lose 1 lb the first week...but since I have trouble with retaining water, my weight can fluctuate by 5 lbs in a day...so I will be happier once I feel my clothing getting looser, or once I lose over 5 lbs total!

A co-worker got me a little gift of sugar-free Nips, little caramel candies. They are really tasty. She had a sticky note on it saying "To the Diet Diva from Your Secret Sweety, keep it up!" Very encouraging!

Just had to share that and help encourage all the rest of you to keep it up!! If i can walk 3 miles you can meet your goals!!!

Yuck... I'm sorry.

I'm glad to be here! I've NEVER worked out before (with the exception of highschool gym, which I hated) and last night was my 4th workout in a row! *dances up and down*

I still need to actually weigh myself and figure out what I'm loosing (if any yet)...

Three miles is a lot... congratulations!

Why does everyone like the elliptical so much? I tried it and really didn't like it because it felt completely unnatural. Am I doing something wrong?
