Grrrr, somebody missed the box last night

I woke up this morning and went into the kitty room and this stink hit me. I looked and one of the cats went potty right next to the litter box. It was by no means solid, I think it had something to do with a new soft food I fed them yesterday so I'm throwing that out. Is it common if a cat isn't feeling well to possibly miss their box if they have diarhea (sp?)?


This is the first accident in a long, long time.

Well, a cat with health issues will have accidents.

Very common... they just can't hold it. When you intro. new food, do it in little bits mixed with their old stuff, so their systems get used to it. If it's still a problem by the end of a week though, ditch the new stuff... there's plenty of good food around and it just might not agree with the cat.

I have a "high shooter" so I switched to covered boxes; however, not all cats will use covered boxes. I'm lucky because mine actually prefer them I know this because they have 1 uncovered box that hardley gets used.
