All of my kids are chipped (two cats and a dog) with 24PetWatch.

I got one of my cats from the humane society and he had already been microchipped, however, the previous owner never registered their information on the chip so he was adopted out to me. My HS also told me it was fairly common for owners to have their pets chipped, but not registered, and their policy was to wait the requisite time for the owner to claim the animal before adopting it out. I checked the homeagain website and saw it cost $17 to register my info on his chip. Is there also an annual fee included with this?

I don't believe there is an annual fee. I will have to double check but I think it is just the one time registration fee.

I checked and Home Again does not charge annual fees and changing addresses and info is free. It is just the one time registration fee for the life of the pet.

That is one thing to check when choosing a microchip company. IMo they should not charge you a yearly fee to keep your info updated. That means you will have to pay them x dollars every year for the life of your pet- that could be 20 years! What are they going to do if you don't pay- throw all your info out??? That doesn't seem right. Some companies will charge for address changes etc.. That seems more fair. The best companies only charge for the chip and registration and allow all address changes... for free via toll free number or website.

What kind of vitamin? Spot gets lysine, when I remember to give it to him, to help with his sneezing. It's a pretty large pill, so I dissolve it in a little bit of water and mix it with some Fancy Feast (I know it's not the greatest food, but it gets the lysine down and he also gets Royal Canin dry).

As for the microchips, I just returned from having Willow microchipped (Spot got his last month). Both are with 24PetWatch. By the way, 24PetWatch will let you register for free even if you aren't using one of their chips. They allow registrations for AVID, HomeAgain, Crystal Tag, EIDAP, Microchips4Solutions, and PetNet.

I think I would treat it like a regular pill and shove it down the kitty's throat. I'm fortunate, though, that my kitty is well trained in pill-taking. He knows that after the pill comes food, so he doesn't fight me. I have to give him Tapazole twice per day, so he learned pretty quickly.

Jamie and ZsaZsa both have VirBac "Back Home" chips, which are the European norm, and are entered in 2 German and one European registry. From what I read in a recent article in a German cat magazine, and in the newspaper, a universal, i.e., international, transponder should be introduced within the year. That may mean having to get your pets chipped again.

Make sure the price is the total price. This includes the chip and registration fee.

Yes it's wonderful and I am grateful for that. My clinic used to use another chipping company but they started to charge yearly so we switched to 24PetWatch. My two girls were chipped by them but my dog had already been chipped by the first company who charged. We were able to register all of his information with 24PetWatch, so that's the company all of them use and I'm happy with them.

Home Again doesn't charge an annual fee, the $17 is the activation fee.

Napolean is chipped with Home Again. All of the rescues get AVID chipped supplied by that rescue organization.

I do not have my cat chipped, After she is gone when I get another younger cat(can't it now she won't tollerate another cat in the house we have tried, first she gets all pissy then starts peeing on my husbands clothes and the 2 cats we have tried with decided it was better to move in with my mom who lives next door....so for now we are a one cat household) I do have my dog microchipped with homeagain. I had it done at petco at their clinc it was $29 plus $17 to registar with homeagain plus I got a $10 mail in rebate. they charge the same for cats and used a pain shot before putting in the chip.
