My cat, myself and my boyfriend all live together. She's talkative at times with me, but recently I've learned that she's a whole lot more talkative and animated with my boyfriend, whether I leave the room or the house altogether. I guess you could say I'm jealous, but I'm also curious as to why this is. Do cats just gravitate towards one other person, and does the fact that I'm the caretaker (food, litterbox, discipline) have anything to do with her behavior? Any feedback would be appreciated!!

*shrugs* I'm sure not a cat expert but Captain (who has been my cat for 10 years) prefers to get love from my s/o. The other two like me more... And my mom's cat prefers men (even though no men live in the house)... go figure?

If your shouting at her that won't help, but having said that, although my two are love bugs, you've never seen such a pair of flirts with any male that comes to my house, especially Sophie!.

Rosie is 3 years old now and she would never sit on anyones knee but mine, but the person i'm seeing right now she went straight on his lap and curled up!!.

Don't be jealous, be pleased that she gives her approval on your boyfriend

When you go out, she doesn't 'know' if you're coming back, and has to quickly suck up to whoever else is still there to make sure she'll continue to get fed later on. Or something like that, I think. Cats being cats, I think her appreciation of your hard work only goes so far; like little kids, cats don't think about where their food comes from, only that it keeps coming!

Some cats just gravitate to one person more.

Gemini is my mother's baby. Doesn't want to deal with any other person, any other animal, any other anything... no way, no how.

Azrael will only come to me and will hide from everyone else. It was a year and half before he would come within arms reach of my mother.

Tryon will go to anyone, but if she has an option between me and someone else, she will come to me every time.

Everyone else kind of shares the love

Oh and Mayhem, back when he was still with us, hung out with everyone, but if there was a male in the house, so help me Mayhem would not leave his side and would chat to the guy and walk through his legs. And the only guys in the house at the time were workmen.... I'm not sure they appreciated that too much

I disipline my cats by yelling at them but at the same time right after i yell they come over to me as they know i will not hit them...I dont think it is the Disipline that is the problem.Cats are cats and they find others more welcoming sometimes...My mothers cat is a lover to both of my parents but as soon as i come over the cat wants nothing to do with them and is all over me.I would say spend more 1 on 1 time with her or him and maybe they will come around.....
