I went to the nearest branch of the SPCA! There were so many furry little guys and gals looking for homes, it just tugs at the old heartstrings. But, anyway, my boyfriend and I filled out an adoption application for a 3 yr old hound cross named Max. He's the type of dog I always wanted when I was a kid. Fingers crossed that we get picked to give this adorable little guy a forever home!

I really hope you get picked as parents for Max.
I try to stay away from SPCAs, shelters, stores etc. We live in an apartment and have 2 furry kids already. Once we get our house, someone will be joining us for sure!!!

I still haven't heard from the SPCA. I know we only filled out the application yesterday afternoon, but I feel like an expectent parent pacing the waiting room lol! I'm hoping to get a call to come in for an interview soon, but this waiting is driving me absolutely bonkers.....do you think it would be too foreward to email the adoption coordinator and ask for an update, if there's no news before I head to work?

Another wish for good luck! :goodluck: I think it would be perfectly fine to send an e-mail to the adoption coordinator or even a phone call to say you wanted to follow up about your application.

I know this thread is very old but I agree, sometimes things get missed or call backs get forgotten and this shows any adoption coordinator that you're more than interested, your PSYCHED!, and you can't wait to get the ball rolling on the adoption process.
We went through a rescue to adopt a little pup many years ago and I sent the application off, and in 2 days time I hadn't heard so I emailed them to see if they had time to review and I got an immediate reply saying that they had sent my approval the day before. I hadn't received it. Had I not emailed to check, they may have assumed I lost interest and adopted him out to someone else and I would have missed out, big time.

OMG, how in the world did I end up on a thread that is almost 13 years old? I'm presently out-of-town dog sitting for my daughter while she's away on vacation. I've had a lot of trouble with her computer but this is ludicrous. Thanks for letting me know about this 1 bruce 1 1 bruce 1 or I would have never even realized it. :thanks:

It doesn't matter! =D I think it's a good topic, and might be easier to find if someone has sent off an adoption application and are chewing their fingernails down to bloody stumps in anticipation!

I've done it and I've caught myself several times nearly pressing the send button for old posts. It's a bit annoying after writing a Nobel Prize winning response only to then bin it. It makes you feel like a chump. It doesn't matter on some of course eg. 'Post your..........whatever' as they're not time specific.

I don't know what the general feeling on the forum here is on bringing back to life "old" threads here, but I found this site via a google search when our guy was having such horrible IBD problems and the help I got here was (and is) fantastic.
If you write a Nobel Prize response, hopefully it's OK to post and I say post it anyway so long as the mods don't find it problematic. Old threads are found on google searches a lot, so keeping subjects of interest open might encourage new members. JMO =)
I was on a dog breed forum, wrote my response, and didn't understand why I got no hits or replies until I realized the thread was 10+ years old and the last active post on the forum as a whole was about 4 years ago; the board was all but abandoned and disbanded.
Heh. WHOOPS :running:

We do try to keep an eye out for new posts in old threads - mostly to make sure someone isn't going to miss out on important advice and support.
This thread could be quite interesting even though old given the original subject of how dangerous it is to wander in to SPCA / rescue centres / anywhere you might be at risk of acquiring a new furry or feathered family member.

I think we've all done that at least once but look at the bright side! We may have more Nobel Prize winners here than any site on the web!
