We are currently feeding our 5 month old kitten wet Innova twice a day & 1/4 cup of EVO free choice. When our kitten doesn't finish his helping of wet food I place it in a container in the fridge to be used at his next feeding. Should I heat up the wet food when I take it out of the fridge or is it ok for him to eat his food cold?

It is OK, but often cats and kittens don't like to eat cold food, so he may reject it until it warms up. In the case of those that will eat it cold, sometimes their stomachs react to the chilled food and they will vomit shortly after eating.

I think your overall best bet is to serve it up at room temp if you can.

Thanks for your reply. I'll continue to warm up his food in the microwave.

I like to use hot water to make gravy, same as Yosemite. That also increases their fluid intake. But if a microwave is used to warm up the wet food, let it stand for a couple minutes or mix it up before serving, because microwaves are know to create "hot spots."

Either way is fine, if he will eat the food cold. When I need to heat chilled food, I zap it in the microwave for 10-20 seconds and then mix thoroughly to eliminate any "hot spots". This is important since microwaves heat unevenly.
