Clean-up of dog urine; same as for cats?

Is cat and dog urine similar? I read that if a cat's urine stain is still wet, to not use vinigar on it because it makes matters worse. If it is dry, then you can use vinigar. Does this count for dog's urine as well?
My BIL recently got a dog that tinkles on the floor whenever something is going on, with stress, joy or any excitement. He was going to put vinigar on it but stopped when I told him of the cat urine thing... Just wanted to double check what is right for dogs.

Hmm I'm not really sure about that. One person who will know would be Hissy, she should be along in a short while. I will be checking back as I need to know the answer to that as well.

Oh and very nice to meet you

I think there's a difference when it comes to "lingering odor". Cat's urine is more potent. You need a good "odor remover" with kitties. Dogs will just need a good soap, water and lysol scrubbing.

I use natures miracle for both

If it's in the carpet, I would also think you'd want to use an enzyme cleaner like Nature's Miracle (what I use for my kitties) or Simple Solution. I think they have Nature's Miracle specifically for dogs, too.

White Vinegar works on Dog Urine, or Natures Enzime is also good. I use the vinegar myself.
