I cook for my cats and they love all the veggies. Some of them are butternut squash, peas, sweet potatoes, carrots, corn and green beans.
I still think that article is bunk. Gandalf doesn beg for much but sweets...he's a sweet hound. I have to watch him carefully to make sure he doesn't sneak off with anything bad for him. Samwise's only sweet thing he loves is pepermint candy but he loves it a lot. My cousin's cats are the same way and she four inside and I believe at last count five outside.Originally Posted by evnshawn
Otherwise, none of our current cats seem to care for veggies. The oldest, Ace, and the smallest kitten, Smidge (also known as Little Miss), have a sweet tooth, though. Despite that article that came out a while back explaining why cats don't like sweets.
As far as cats not liking sweets - Jamie will devour cake and cookies, so I think the article is bunk, too.Originally Posted by GrayKittenLove

Anyway for vegies, Gandalf loves cooked potatoes and will eat the leaves off any plant I have in the house. He also likes lettuce ok. Samwise is more a meat guy though.
I haven't read the article, but I wonder if its the taste or the texture that the cats like. When my ex and I had birds, they were picky about certian veggies, but my vet told me they had very little taste because their taste buds were very deep in their tounges, allowing them to eat very hot food (peppers). I wondered why they liked some foods over others. My vet said it was probably the texture they liked/disliked.Originally Posted by jcat
