I have a big male solid black tomcat. He decide he would adopt me after leaving my door open after bringing in my groceries. He jumped up onto my couch and made himself at home! My question is {not knowing about cat breeds} is that I noticed the roof of his mouth the skin color is black and what I know about dogs is that Chow dogs the inside of thier mouth and tongue are black and that is how you tell they are pure bred Chow. Does anyone know if it is true for cats? Does this mean that my cat is in some way a pure breed of some kind? Signed Curious like a Cat. You can email me or post your thoughts to me at {[email protected]} or on here. Thanks!!!!

Nope, I've never heard about the color of the inside of a cat's mouth as indicating its breed. Chances are he's a mixed breed (my favorite breed!).

Congratulations on your new baby! He sounds like a sweet and confident little guy. Just make sure you have him neutered ASAP before he starts spraying around your house!
