Yeah, I'm kind-of a dork. I love taking pictures of things I bake and putting them on my blog...LoL!
Today I baked an Apple Crumb Pie (a recipe that came with my new food processor) and it looks and smells sooooooo good!! But we can't have any today cuz it's going to our family Christmas party tomorrow.

This is the first time I've ever made the crust from scratch and it looks like it turned out pretty good. I took a TEENY-TINY little taste of the crust and YUMMMM!

Anyhoo, here's a picture of it:

Can't you sneak just the tiniest slice and say it broke apart in the car ride and it was perfect before, honest?

Thanks! Actually, the crust wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. I think the secret is getting JUST the right amount of water into the dough. If there's not enough, the dough is crumbly and almost impossible to roll out; if there's too much, it's too sticky. I ended up having to add more water after the dough had been chilled in the fridge for an hour, and then had to put it back in the fridge to chill a little longer. That's the main reason the pie took forever to make...lol!

I used to always go show my mom what my pies looked like and she would always have some sweet comment even if the pie looked like crap. God I miss her. I actually took one of my pies out of the oven friday and took it to her room to show her. It wasn't till I got there and saw the boys stuff that I remember she was gone

if you brush the crust with milk before baking you also get a nice golden glaze on your crust too and if you put foil over the edges of the crust they wont burn

Well, I usually don't chill it in the fridge, do you think that may be it? Also, when I roll it out, I put flour on paper towels which are on the cutting board. And flour on the rolling pin. This is so it won't stick. Maybe that dries it out too much? I have made so many pies and it almost always comes out very ugly, but still yummy...but....what do you think?

Well your pie does look very yummy
. What were you thinking posting it here????? Now you're gonna have to send us all a piece.
