Make sure to look for Trey underneath the house...my cat was trapped under ours for two weeks. When he ran out of mice to catch and eat, he decided to make some noise so we could find him.

Trey is still missing
, and my sister really fears that he was hit by a vehicle and disposed of in a trash can somewhere, or that a coyote got him, because he has simply vanished. I'm just hoping that somebody took him in as a "stray", though he is chipped, and wears a breakaway collar with ID tags. He's such a friendly cat that I could imagine someone just keeping him.

I live in the No. Va area near DC.
If he lost his collar/tag, the person who found might not
realize he's chipped. (look at me and little Lexi). Also,
they may not know someone is looking for him, thinking
him an unowned/cared for kitty...

I'm sending all my love n' prayers. And remember -
like I told Mike - lots of caring folks out there - so
his fate may not be the worst you think. He could
even now be loved and cared for well! Think positive...

Try the internet lost and found sites too.. if you
haven't already done so...

That makes me feel a bit better. I really love that cat. I was visiting when they got him from the shelter, and ever since then we've had a special bond, even though I only visit once a year. He's always all over me when I come. My sister checks out the internet sites, too. She's really frantic - she's still checking the shelters, and the "animal morgue".

sending vibes for him to come home.

when Mav ran away i was so sure she wouldnt go back. she had never left the back yard and was small and underweight and was still fighting off an eye infection and cold. plus she was only 8 months old.

When she was missing for four days i was sure she was dead.

BUT - against all the odds she turned up on day five with all her claws broken, hungrey and tired but fine!

If Maverick survived out there the that gives me hope that he'll come home.

I keep dreaming about him. The major concern is that my sister lives in a small town in a rural area with lots of wildlife - not just coyotes, but also mountain lions and eagles. I saw an eagle carry off a small dog while visiting there (I was staying at my mom's, in the same county), and Trey's handicap puts him at a definite disadvantage. The coyotes are all over. The evening before the trash is picked up is "coyote sighting night" - they raid everybody's trash. I don't have anything against coyotes, but I realize that they pose a prime danger for outdoor cats / small dogs,

Update: Trey is back! They have no idea where he was for so long, but obviously somewhere where he got enough to eat, and had a warm place to sleep. He sauntered in the day before yesterday, climbed up on the couch, and took a snooze.

I was afraid to read this, I thought it would say he'd been "found".

Well thank God, the heavens, the stars, the goddess or whoever

I rather suspect that somebody took him in because he's so friendly, and didn't bother calling the number on his ID tag, or checking to see if he was chipped (he is).

I love these stories with happy endings. I expect someone tried to make him their cat.

Thank you for the good wishes, I suppose we'll never know where he was during his disappearance, but everybody (human, canine, and feline) is very relieved right now.
