I usually take it down January 2nd. There's a superstition in my family that it brings bad luck to have the tree up past January 6th. I usually don't put it up until Christmas Eve, so taking it down the day after Christmas would be a bit much.

I would have to say about a week after Christmas...

I had a friend that didn't take hers down until July. Luckily, it was a fake tree.

I'm not sure if that superstition comes from the German, or Irish/English side of the family. At any rate, Twelfth Night (January 6th) is the limit. It makes sense, though. By then, a real tree is pretty dry, and a fire hazard.

I would leave mine up until Valentine's Day if I could!
My mother always left hers up until the middle of January, until about a week after Epiphany. I just figure mid-January was good enough for Mom, it's good enough for me.

About a week after seems right to me, but I always delay another week or two. I clicked 1 month after Christmas, but it is always down by then. But rarely a week later...that is still the holiday season to me!

I prefer to leave it up for the whole twelve days of Christmas -- until Epiphany -- January 6. Some years it doesn't work out -- either I don't get around to taking it down, and it says for a week or two or three
-- no big deal since it's fake -- or, as I think will be the case this year, it will come down on New Year's Day or the 2nd, since we will be away for a couple of days after that. Our cats really don't bother it, but I'd rather not tempt fate.

I didn't vote because I usually leave it up until sometime in February.
As long as it still feels like winter I enjoy the lights on my tree at nighttime. My tree is of course, artificial.

we also celebrate armenian christmas which is not until januray 8th (we have western christmas with presents and then armenian christmas). so if i have a large tree i usually keep it up until then, but since i have a small one i will probably put it up tomorrow. normally i don't do that but my black cat mumu keeps attacking it and knocking it over
not sure what is wrong with her and at 6 and a half months pregnant i can't bend over to pick up the ornaments anymore
so i give up this year it will be early

Well the cats didn't want to leave it alone ever sence I put it up, they would just leap into it
I finally got 5 helium ballons and stuck them in various places and turned the fan on it
removed them when company came
and then put them back then they decided they didn't like it quit as well, they weren't really scared just couldn't figure it all out
(HOPEFULLY) when I remove the ballons for good and turn the fan off they will take it down for me
Now would be good
I'm tired of it already, I wish I could market that idea it worked great

Officially a week and a day after Christmas.....when hubby goes back to work.
I have him bring up all the boxes so I can pack the stuff the way I WANT IT PACKED , then I clean house. (Can ya`ll believe the amount of dust that collects under all the greenery etc?....And this year there are bound to be a few cat hairs as well...I`m sure!)
When hubby gets home it`s his turn...then he can tote the tree and all the boxes to the basement.

We always un-decorate on New Year's Day. By that time I'm more than ready to have my house back to normal!
