Another question about getting 2nd cat

Our cat know was a stray and she is about 4.5 -5 months old and very active. She tends to roughhose some and wondered if maybe getting an older kitten say 10 - 12 months might be a better idea than getting one the same age? We are going to get an active since that's what we have (she's a siamese mix) but thought maybe we could have that almost acts like a big brother/sister. Any ideas? Thanks for all the input.

If your kitty likes to roughhouse, I would suggest getting a MALE kitten, then you can get one the same age and he'll hold his own with her. Boys (IMO, judging by mine) tend to like to play rougher. My girls hardly ever play together, where my boys are always wrestling.

I agree with Shannon's suggestion to get a male. Although I don't think you need to be too concerned about the age, because at both of the ages you mentioned, they're really still just kittens in terms of the way they behave. I think two young cats of opposite gender at that young age should have no problems bonding. Good luck and post some pics!!

We (paulSC is my hubby) ended up getting a 6 month old female that my dad had raised so far in his barn with her mommy and siblings. He feed her and petted her so she was pretty used to pampering. She (CoCo) and Chip (our siamese-y kitty) are getting along great now! We've had them together for about two months I believe and they play all the time and are beginning to love each other too! aw!
