OK so most of you know already that I haven't been poppin in here that often because I found the wonderful Brides Of Destruction forum. Well there's this guy named Jay there and he is Brides Of Destruction's sound guy. Well I saw him online last night so just for the heck of it I checked out his profile and noticed that he has his AOL instant messenger screen name there, so I was like "Hmm..why not?" and I IMed him. We talked for a bit introduced eachother and then he asked me "Have we met before?" and I said "No." Then he asked "Have you been to any of the shows?" and I said "HAH! I wish!" Then he asked if I was too young and I said "No. I'm 18..I'm just broke." and then he said, "Well ask to be on 'the list.'" and I was like, "What list?" and he said, "My guest list." With that said..my jaw hit the floor! "Where are you from?" he finally asked, "Illinois."
"We were just out there.."
"Well I wasn't a fan yet."
"Ah I see."
Thousands of questions were running through my mind but this is the only one I ended up asking..
"Does the "Guest List" get me backstage?"
"Usually."
ACK! I can't meet Brides Of Destruction all by myself! I need someone to keep my breathing in check and to balance me as I'm walking toward them!! Dang it I'll fall over!!

Oh my gosh I'm freaking out man!!

Just don't get your hopes up. He didn't say "when do you want to go?" or anything. He could have just been making small talk...or he could just BE talk. Even if he was serious and was going to let you in, you'd have to wait for them to come back to your state, right? So will you still be talking to him by then?

A lot of things to consider before you fly through the roof.

also not to burst your bubble either - but I would also be extremley careful about this.
DH is in the music industry (he promotes and tours international bands) and I can guarentee that if his 'sound guy' did this then he would no longer be the sound guy... guest list and more importantly back stage is not something that is taken lightly.
And just because you might get back stage doesnt mean you will necessarily get to meet the band. Back stage isnt all that its cracked up to be to be honest and not all bands want to spend their time with fans back stage.

be careful.

My husband also works in the industry, as a producer of a radio show, and sometimes gets photo/press passes from the band's management. But he absolutely has to go through either the promoter of the show (local) or the management to get tickets. Well, with the exception of one band because he's interviewed them a few times and really hit it off with the singer and the singer's wife. He's on the permanent Guest List for them.
But Roadies & Techs don't get to have Guest Lists, nor can they get you access to the band. It just doesn't happen. I remember in the 80s there were a lot of very upset Groupies who would do all kinds of things for Roadies on the promise of backstage passes and tickets, only to find out later that they couldn't get them in. It hasn't changed.

BTW, just as an aside, it was just recently announced that Tracii Guns is going to be touring with Quiet Riot next summer, so the rumours are spreading that the Brides may not last much longer since the two founding members (Nikki and Tracii) have left.

Having been married to a musician, my dear ... please, I strongly urge you to be very, very careful here. The people contracted to run the show (lights, sound, stage - normally called "roadies" because they travel along for many of the stops on a normal tour) are not usually "with the band". They are hired independantly most of the time and may not know or even associate with the band members at all - they just set them up and disappear. They magically reappear again once the show is over to break it down, pack it up and move it to the next stop. While it may all sound very, very glamourous and appealing, please take it from me that it is not at all what you may think it to be.

If you would like to see a show, then instead of putting your personal information out on "the list" (I hate to tell you what "the list" really is), then save your pennies and buy a ticket when they are back in town.

I have to agree with everybody else--don't get your hopes up too much, and you should be very cautious. The Internet these days can be extremely dangerous, and it's hard to trust anybody on it. Just think about it: anybody can pretend to be anybody very easily and tend to take advantage of it and mislead people a lot. It is very easy to believe people like that and get reeled in. Please be very careful with this.

I'm sorry if this is disappointing, but we are only trying to help, honest!!

I talked to Tracii Guns and he said the brides are staying together and he is staying with them. Nikki has been out of the band for over a year now.

As for the backstage stuff Jay did say it was a "Maybe." And I talk to the brides all the time and they love hanging out with their fans.

Lol I never really asked them for passes because I didn't want to be one of them "begging annoying fans."

Jay just offered it to me he's the one that brought it up lol.

You and me both! Lol!

If it doesn't work out sure I'll be bummed but I'm not going to fret over it like it's the end of the world lol. Because like I said I do talk to the guys online so I'm happy to at least have that!

so I could make a screen name on AOL and say I am anybody! How do you know that this person is the real deal? Most famous people arent gonna be flaunting their email addresses and AIM names. For your own safety BE VERY CAREFUL

I don't talk to BOD on AIM I talk to them on their official forum. Plus I am very good friends with the administrator of that forum and she has met BOD twice.

I do know what you are saying though.

Hubby just got an official email from Tracii Guns, because he has to be in the know for his radio show. That's where he gets the contacts from.
Anywho, the email said that the future of the Brides is uncertain at this time, but they are not broken up as of now. However, they also aren't going to be working or touring in 2006. He said he wishes that Nikki would come back to the group, but doubt that's going to happen any time soon. And that the Brides have the best fans, yadda yadda yadda.

So, at least for now...you don't really have to worry about this guy and if he's legit or unsavory. Take the time to get to know him online, develop a friendship with him, and then you'll have a better idea of what he's after. Heck - try to get to know the guys in the band during their year off! Tracii will be busy, but the rest may have time on their hands.
It strikes me as odd that he would offer tickets and backstage the first time you talked to him, but I could understand it more if you had been communicating with him for a longer time.

I know it seems like we're just telling you off, but that's really not it. We're concerned for your safety, and I can tell you for sure that you won't get to the band through a roadie. You may or may not get tickets, but you won't get to the actual guys you want to meet.

"What is going to happen to the BRIDES?

Right now, the future of the BRIDES is not clear. We have not broken the band up but, We also will not be working or playing in 2006. The Brides is constantly a work in progress and I would feel alot better about the Band if Nikki were to return but, I dont think thats going to happen anytime soon so, for now it is what it is.The Brides have the most loyal fans a band could ever want even without Nikki and all of us do not take them for granted and as soon as it is possible to give more back to the fans, I KNOW WE WILL.

Love, Tracii"

Lets just say none of us at the brides forum are happy. We are all EXTREMELY FURIOUS because we were promised a couple of things and not to mention Tracii himself has told the admin that they will be doing stuff in 2006. Well now this just pretty much throws her post away and yeah we're not happy.

Some of us (including me) are even crying.
