Vet Haris has suggested Doxicillin for the boys, both for their still recurrent diarrhoea and for Wellington' s respiratory problem. I have never used this particular antibiotic before and was surprised he didn't offer Clavamox. Anyone had any experience?

Clavamox can cause stomach upset and diarrhea, or make the diarrhea worse. That could be why he didn't suggest it.

Thanks. I had just thought Clavamox is stronger! I didn't know about side effects.

Got it this afternoon from the pharmacy. But here there is no vet medicine as such so I have human capsules, 100mg each, and I have to give each cat 15 mg twice a day! So I have to open each capsule, divide the powder in 6 and get it down them. Nothing is easy.

why not mix each power dose with a little chicken broth (turn it into liquid form) and give it via a syringe (sp?) - could make things better for all.

Good luck and happy holidays!!

Give it to them in some canned food! What a special treat, especially if they don't normally eat canned food.

Thanks. What I did was mix each capsule (100 mg) into 6 syringe fulls of goats milk and stir it really well. Then I had 6 doses ready and all I had to do was fill 2 syringes each time! It was really easy to give them as they love goats milk. Wellington seems to be a bit better, though still wheezing from time to time. But he is not as clingy. And they love their present - one of those turntables with a mouse running round under it. They, and Persil, are spending hours trying to catch the mouse and growling at each other.

Glad to hear things are looking better for the boys!

Wishing you and the kits all the best in the new year.
