My boyfriend was looking for any interesting shows we could go see and he happened upon tickets to this show: http://www.moscowcatstheatre.com/photos.html

It looks like a lot of fun to watch, but I'm torn. Do you guys think this is fun for the cats or borderline abuse? Part of me thinks it looks like one big 'play time' for the cats while the other part of me thinks "circus, circus, animal abuse?"

What do you guys think?

Looks like the cats are enjoying them selves! I would think it would be a fun show. The kitties riding the horses was adorable.

The kitty in the dress looks less than thrilled, but other than that they look like they are having fun. Let's face it - cats don't respond to negative reinforcement, and you just can't get them to do anything they don't want to do. LOL The Cats Gallery shows a lot of healthy looking and cared for kitties to me.

I ended up not buying tickets, but personally I do not think its cruelty - he has saved a lot of those cats from shelters etc and brought them around to trusting humans again - yeah they are circus animals - but he seems to truly love them like i love mine.
Thanks for this! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who was a bit torn morally
It's a great thing that he saves all those kittens, and most of the pictures on the site do look like what my kitties try to do at home, so it has to be fun

We bought tickets! I will let everyone know how it goes!

I saw a documentary once on this show and how the cats are trained. Although I do not like animals in circuses, it was clear that the owner really loves the cats and trains them by positive reinforcement. He was great at 'talking cat' and all the cats headbutted him and touched noses before they did as he asked, and he gave them lots of treats. I am torn, but in some ways anything that increases cat awareness and admiration has to be a good thing, as long as silly owners don't come away thinking they can train their cats to walk tightropes etc!

That is so true. Cats are very independent and have a mind of their own, and only do what they want to. You really can't make a cat do something. These kitties must be having fun! Enjoy the show, sounds quite interesting!! Can't wait to hear all about it.
