my landlords cat got in a fight about a month ago. it has a nasty wound which they said was infected at one. they used hydrogen peroxide on it.

so we were taking care of the cat this weekend and it was the first time i noticed this!. it's pretty harsh that they didn't take the cat to the vet

i did tell them to take him to the vet but somehow i suspect they won't...what can we do??

I would take the cat to the vet yourself or contact the local SPCA. Owners are required to provede food, water, shelter, and adequate medical care. These owners could be charged or at least strong-armed into caring for their cat.

well we were thinking of doing that but they may get offended! i think they are afraid to spend the money. this same cat ran away from them at the airport (long story short) one day and they had to spend a bundle to keep him alive. the cat is actually owned by the landloard girlfriend. you'd just love to ear what the landlord himself said abot the situation. maybe i'll be brave and tell you later

The wound is probably either being reopened by the cat (scratching or biting on it) or the cat that gave him the wound to begin with keeps coming back to finish the job. Is the cat neutered?

If the cat will let you handle him, I would take him to the vet. Tell your neighbor it is an early christmas present and don't expect them to pay for it. But bite wounds can be nasty and untreated (if enough bacteria is present) this cat could die a slow nasty death. Hard to say not being there to see it.
