Can I feed them fish raw or cooked with no seasoning..... ???

Zoey loves fish and I think I can get her to eat it instead of kibble but I dont want to give her something bad.. I know tuna but that is Kandies fave and she wont share

If yes what kind is best??

I would not feed raw fish as a diet - check this out (scroll down to listing for raw fish):http://www.peteducation.com/article....articleid=1029
As an occasional treat, yes, if you are sure it is parasite free.

Cooked fish is OK, no salt of course. But raw fish often has parasites and I would not give it to them.

Personally I don't feed my cats fish except as an occasional treat. And its usually a bit of the fish we are eating for supper. Cats can and do get hooked on fish and refuse to eat other foods.

I stick with beef, chicken, lamb foods (or a tiny bit of people food as a treat). I've had some of my cats refuse to eat any kind of fish because they were not really given it as kittens.

If you want to give them fish as a treat, stick with cooked fish to be on the safe side.

I feed cooked fish on occasion, but I wouldn't do raw fish because of the parasite issues. Cats' digestive systems can handle bacteria okay but they're definitely susceptible to parasites.

My guys aren't really huge fish fans, to be honest.

You might try Solid Gold's tuna cat food to see if that works. Even though I have some issues with a tuna-heavy diet, I think she'll benefit from getting more wet food so it's a decent trade off.

In the raw food groups I am in many people do cooked fish at most once a week (often less). Its a nice addition to the diet but more as a treat and can replace one meal every once and a while. A lot of people use Jack Mackerel canned or wild salmon. I also feed no salt tuna as a clicker training treat (and meat based baby food). Hope though gets sick off of the tuna and will throw it up (even though she loves it). Its just too rich for her.

If you feed more often then you will have to look into the fish that has the least amount of mercury and supplement the taurine.

You can turn the e-mails off if you want and then there is a wealth of information in their database and if you search through the posts for fish different things will come up. Haddock should be fine (less mercury I think too) but gosh isn't that one of the more expensive fish? I loooove haddock. I don't get it down in the south though. We had it fresh caught in New Hampshire though.
