Wondering if anyone else has ferrets and how they get along with your kitties.

We have 3, Chuckie and Spyder are ok with them but the girls hiss at them!
Winnie does get a little mean and smack at them, she's the only one I have to watch when she's in the room with them.

Man I would love to get a ferret. Or a rabbit. But I don't think either would work well in our place

I only have two experiences with ferrets - one was at a petshop and there was some mean lady hanging over us telling us not to put our fingers through the cage and the other time was at a pet expo where a girl as walking around with one on her shoulder. To be honest they scare me a little.

Sarah, it's hard to get pics of the ferrets with the kits, becuase they are usually chasing each other!

Sam, they are nothing to be frightened of really, they are kind of like puppies.

Whenever I look at Spyder in your signature, Diane, he reminds me of a ferret - don't ya think he's got kind of a ferrety(is that a word? lol) face.

I guess it would be different if I had touched one in person. I've just heard bad things about wild ones.

Our boys met a ferret once. A lady was walking her ferret down our road. I was worried the cats might try to attack it, but they were scared! They each had a sniff, then turned and ran the little scaredy babies!

Sam - My sister got bitten by one once; very nasty bite. It turned all green and purple.
But that was a wild one that she was foolish enough to pick up. If it's been raised by humans I would think they'd be ok to handle.

I just bought a new pair of pants from Herbergers, put them on, then went to Petsmart. A lady had brought her ferret, and of course it got lose and just had to run up my leg, making a bunch of holes in my new pants! I'm afraid that is my only 'ferret experiance'.

I used to have two cats and a ferret. It was quite comical to say the very least. The ferret had a lot more energy and though the cats enjoyed playing with the ferret, they would get tired out and slightly annoyed. But they got along .

My ferret loves my cats!! They play wrestle, snuggle together, etc. The one cat is convinced the ferret is her kitten, and will try to scruff her if she is being 'bad', pins her down and bathes her, etc.
The ferret hates my dog, unforunately, and will chase and try to bite her. So, they cannot be loose together in the same room.
Seeing a 22 pound dog running in terror from a 2 pound ferret is pretty funny looking!

We used to have a ferret with the cats, Casper, but he passed on about two years ago. He got along well with the cats, as he was raised with them, but the only downfall to that was he thought he could jump like a cat and often took flying leaps off furniture, expecially when chasing the cats. He never got hurt, luckily, and I think the cats lured him up onto furniture on purpose!!

I've never seen a ferret in real life except in pet stores in cages. My parents did have a friend who had a tamed weasel (I'm wondering if this is what some of you are calling wild ferrets, or is there really wild ferrets?). Slinky was the coolest little guy, he used the litter box and everything! But I've since heard from my parents that little Slinky passed away
