Cat Acne?

I have an 11 year old cat and last summer I noticed black spots on his stomach. As I got closer, they appeared to be like blackheads, so my mother and I worked on pulling them out(we found about 3). In the end, they looked nothing like like blackheads and they smelled horribly. I took him to the vet, but they couldn't figure out what it was and figured it was just cat acne.

Anyway, since then we've moved and gone to a cat clinic for shots and fleas, et cetera, but everytime we've gone, he hasn't had these things to show the people. Tonight I noticed they'd come back, and they always come back in the same place. there's actually even a little bit of balding around the areas. If you apply a little bit of pressure just around them, it seems like they come out by themselves, but then you have to actually finish pulling them out.

I'm just getting kind of fed up with not knowing what this is, and I really can't afford to go to the clinic again unless it's absolutely necessary, so anything you have to tell me would be great.

Beware of popping blackheads on your cats or anything like that, bacause of the chance for bateria to develop, and then infection....

As for blackheads on the belly, I have never heard of that before, usually cats get them on the chin....but I guess its possible for them to be there as well...

In anycase it kinda upsets me that your vet didnt look more throuroughly into the matter, and the fact that there is now balness there worries me...I would bring your kit back to the vet again, and have a more through evaluation done...If you dont get that, then maybe go to another vet......

a few questions.....

Does it seem to bother your kit??
Does your kit seem to scratch or lick that area exsessivly...??

Normally, I would've just left it alone, but they were actually a bit big and I was worried that they may be ticks(I'm extremely inexperienced with these kinds of things).

It doesn't appear to bother my cat at all, and I've never seen him lick around that area. The last vet did give me Nolvasan solutioin, but it obviously didn't do much good.

Yeah ticks are scary..I dont blame you for thinking that....I probably woulf have thought they were ticks too....

I would say if its worrrying you to go see the vet again...at least maybe they can perscribe something else to take care of it.......

I am sure he will be fine though........

Are you sure you didn't accidently remove part of the nipples? Sometimes black crud grows over the tips of the nipples and they look like blackheads but they aren't. And yes this can happen to male cats as well as females. It is caused by a fungus.

Another possibility would be impetigo if the cat was in contact with a kitten that has this, because it usually only occurs on small kittens but it is highly contagious.

Personally, I would leave them alone and get the cat to a feline dermatologist for testing.
