I've never had problems with skinny kitties before...but I've got one little rescued kitten that just won't put on weight. After getting wormed and checked for mites, she just isn't putting on the pounds. I'm guessing that she's growing faster than her body is keeping up with. She's 4 months now and her sister is twice her size. They're both eating Max Cat Kitten.

Not sick. Not opposed to eating, though I'm not sure how much she is eating on her own.

I'm thinking of getting some wet kitten food and some vitamalt for some extra calories.

What do you guys think?

It may be she is just a small cat, I really don't know.

I would suggest asking your vet and getting her checked out just to be sure she is okay.

She's thin bordering on emaciated, so small or not (she probably was the runt), she's too too skinny.
She's not acting sick; I would even bet that she's more active than the other one, but I'm worried that she will get that way.

I may take her back to the vet to be checked out again. And the other one too. They might be passing worms back and forth. It took a friend four wormings in about two months to eradicate worms from her group.

Yes, please do take her to the vet soon if you can...it may be worms, but you never know, sometimes things like this turn out to be something serious, so the sooner the better.

Just a suggestion if at all possible feed her extra meals seperately so you know that she's eating. I do agree it's at least worth another call to the vet. If everything checks out with the vet, try mixing KMR & chicken baby food. Lots of protien & extra calories.

I had trouble getting Lily to gain weight. I switched her from one food to another. The dry food I found that works best is Nutro Natural Choice Indoor Kitten formula. She also gets two-three meals a day of canned cat food. I give her Nutro kitten pouches, Merrick cans, or Wellness cans. Right now, she has taken to eating only Eukanuba canned food, which isn't the best. Once she began eating the Nutro, she began to gain weight. She is staying at a good weight for now, but she is definately getting a really long body. Twitch was skinny her entire life until now(she's 3 1/2 years old). She is finally getting to where she looks pudgy. It depends on the cat.

My rescue kitty is a skinny-minnie, too, but she's a couple of months older than your's. My vet recommended putting her on a high-calorie canned food, about 1 can - 1.5 cans/day. (We feed her SD p/d.) With the canned and the dry food, and being sick with an URI, she's gained 1 pound in about 3 weeks!!

I would talk with your vet to see what s/he recommends.
