Heather, under the circumstances you described, the best thing you can do for this cat is get her to the vet. At seven years old especially it is way past time for her to be spayed. But Gaye is correct you cat needs a vet promptly.

With this kitty being now 7 years old, I think you already know that this kitty should have been spayed a LONG time ago. While I can understand that you do not have much if any of a say in her care, I urge you to do whatever you can to convince your parents to have her in to see her vet immediately for an assessment as well as to schedule her spay surgery. There are plenty of potentially life-threatening circumstances after a still-birth and only your vet can counsel you on what care she should receive now.

Heather, I realize you are young, but you should learn now that a large part of caring for pets is knowing when to have a vet see them and making sure you have the financial resources to do so.

As for tonight, there isn't much you can do if you cannot get her in to a vet. Just keep her in one room with her litter, her food and water and a comfortable and clean bed. She is looking for her kitten no doubt and will be sore and uncomfortable since she has none to nurse.

someplace so boring i am slowly but surely losing
When you mention puppies, are you implying that your dog is not spayed either?

That cat sounds like it should see a vet pronto.

They should be spayed immediately, most definitely. I think somebody else will go through the numbers on how many kittens and puppies they can produce if let unfixed.

There are many low cost spay and neuter facilities around, undoubtedly someone here will give you a good list.

And i must point out that i am younger than you are. Please do what is best for this cat that is obviously in need of vetrinary care.

Oh, this is so sad. I lost a kitty like that once, years ago. She gave birth to two kittens, and still looked pregnant. I had not educated myself at all, and did not even call the vet. By the second day the cat had died, and soon after the two kittens she had birthed were gone, too. This was a barn cat, and I had spayed her sisters (adopted a litter of 3). But I let her have one more litter, because she was such a good mommy. I still feel very bad about her loss, and the precious babies.

If you absolutely cannot get her to a vet, call the rescues and shelters near you, and check if they will have her see the vet immediately if you give her up. Or see if you can work off part of the bill at the vets office. I believe your cat is in grave danger.

Please post and let us know. At 14, you don't make the family decisions. And your Mom sounds like she is overwhelmed. But this cat is your families responsibility, and you are looking for help. Maybe you can even ask for aunts or grandparents to pay for her vet visit as your Christmas present? Best of luck with your kitty. I hope my fears are wrong.

Beckyboo has a good suggestion with calling local rescues and shelters to see if they can offer help. You may even be able to surrender the cat to them, which means she won't be yours anymore, but she will be with people who will be able to get her to a vet. If this happens though, please make sure she goes to a no-kill shelter.
I think you can also call your vet or an emergency vet and explain your situation to them. See if they can offer any advice on ways to help her. You never know, they may have ways to help low income families with their vet bills so you can bring her in. Or they may know some other local vet's or rescues that will help in this type of situation.
I hope she's doing ok, please let us know what happens!

Well, that is good news ... but you must keep her inside now, Heather. You absolutely can't let her go back outside until she is spayed.

What are you considering in the way of saving up the money to help get her spayed? Can you put aside a little of your allowance or can you do some extra work around the neighborhood, babysitting or house-cleaning maybe ... to make a little extra? If you show your Mom and Dad how comitted you are to taking good care of your kitty girl by offering to pay for a part of it, then maybe they will help you ... just a thought.

I know that some teenagers have done some bake sales in order to raise funds to get their cat spayed. Believe me, your cat will be so grateful to be spayed and not have to go through heats again. Also, she could get out and you wouldn't have to worry about her getting pregnant.

The list I provided you above can hopefully help you find some reasonable prices for having your cat spayed.
