Should I feed Innova? Raw?

Hi everyone. I just rescued my lovely kitty Hester from the animal shetler - poor little sweetheart had been thrown out of a car into a snowbank and left for dead! Anyway, I bought a bag of Innova, mostly because I know they make good dog food, and I was hoping their cat food is good as well. It's not the EVO, the pet store didn't seem to carry it. I didn't have as much time to research which food is best for cats as I did when I got my puppy, because I got my puppy from a breeder, so I had months to prepare. Basically, I wanted a cat, and had to take DH to the pound to convince him to let me have one, and when he saw Hester, he wanted THAT one NOW, lol... anyway, has anyone tried this? Also, I was considering feeding her raw, as that is what I feed my puppy (or possible switching puppy to Innova - I'm seriously running out of freezer space; I live in an apartment with a small fridge and that's it!). Has anyone had good experiences with cats and raw? Also, how much does raw cost compared to a brand like innova? I know extra cost is worth health benefits, but still, it's good to know. Well, thanks!

Innova is a good food. EVO is better if you can find it
Good for you for adopting this kitty! Congratulations!

It is possible to feed cats raw, I do it now myself and many other members do as well. It's the closest we can come to their natural diet, and I believe it is truly healthiest for them. For most cats it is not an easy switch. I've been trying for at least 6 months and they just took to it a few weeks ago at last. But my cats are VERY stubborn! I know for me it was actually cheaper to feed raw than a high quality food, but I was feeding canned not dry. I don't know the cost difference there

If you are going to continue with the Innova, be sure to get some wet food in his diet as well! It's much better for his urinary tract health, not to mention preventing obesiety and diabetes. (Raw would do these things as well!)

My only comment on this would be that if you choose to feed raw, please make sure you do your research to ensure your kitten is getting everything it needs including any supplements if required.

I would recommend wet over any dry .. I personally had luck with the dog Evo but not the cat Evo ... I am working on moving two of my three to raw the third is stubborn and doing well on natural choice dry , and soon there will be a forth who is eating dry so I said why worry now
...
I am talling up raw prepared food and it will be about half for what I would pay for the same in canned... but as Yosemite said any raw or homeade diet needs to be reaserched and it is best to have a vet who knows about that kind of diet

A raw diet is great if your willing to do it. Use Wysong's Call Of The Wild supplement if you plan on going raw to cover your bases. I dont' knwo what you do for your puppy but preprepared raw works really great for starting out. Thats what I do for now.

Cost wise I'm not sure as Innova is expensive and raw is expensive. Raw can be super cheap if you make it yourself and find a good butcher. If you go for convenience of preprepared you will pay extra. I'm not really sure its more expensive than these ultra premium dry/wet though...

I have never tried raw feeding, but I do feed my adult cat Innova adult. I couldn't find EVO, either. For my two cats, the best way to feed them is three cans of cat food(or pouches) for their three meals a day & dry food to snack on.

I think raw can be very beneficial, but I just cannot see myself doing that & getting both kitties the proper nutrition.

That's all the input I have! Good Luck!

I feed my cats innova evo dry and they love it. This works for me as I don't have the time to prepare a raw diet (and am also squeamish about handling raw chicken/salmonella)

Thanks for the advice guys! I should add that in addition to the dry Innova I am also feeding the canned. She has dry available all the time and canned once a day or so. I might have to change this when she gains more weight, but for right now, she's incredibly skinny (her spine sticks out, the poor dear). Anyway, the raw I'm feeding the puppy is a prepackaged raw. There's a great health pet food store in town that sells all sorts of prepackaged raw. I might switch to making it myself when I have more freezer space, but for now, little premade patties are best. I'm sure I pay extra, but the convenience is worth it in the end.

Anyway, thanks again! You all seem very knowledgable so I'm sure I'll be talking to you more!
