We've been letting our two kittens now have the run of the house since they haven't had one litter box problem
and they were getting bored in just one room. Anyway, you can occasionally hear them during the night running up and down our hardwood stairs. No prob. But consistently they will wake my hubby and me up at around 3am every morning. You'll open your eyes to find one of them RIGHT in your face and purring very very loudly.
I will pet them and cuddle them and then lay them down either by my feet or around my waist area. But up they come again and just purr and stick their face in mine. One will even kinda bat my face very gently. I have long, thick curly hair and they will start batting at it too. The rest of the night we can't sleep well. I guess the simple solution would be to lock them out of our bedroom, but I really would like to let them sleep with us so I'd like some ideas to make it better. Thanks!

Yes, our cats love to sleep with us. Sometimes we will have so many cats on the bed, that it is hard to move
One suggestion, you may try playing with them for awhile before you go to bed. This will help them sleep through the night. But, you may need to shut them out of the room if they keep you awake. You may eventually just get used to the kittens on your bed purring in your face and sleep through the night as well. Our BIG cats will wake us up around 4-4:30 am for their morning feeding. This is the time we normally get up for work. So, on our days off, we play with them alot before bed time and feed them a little later so they let us sleep in. It works a little, they will try to wake us at 5 or 5:30 am

Baby girl sleeps under the blankets with me and Otis has his own pillow next to our heads. He used to sleep on our pillows but there's nothing worse than waking up to litter in your face so we gave him his own lol. Mama cat on the other hand annoys the crap out of us when she's in heat so usually we just lock her out of the room. I suggest trying to force them to lay down and sleep when they're annoying you. That way they'll know that the bed is for sleep and not play. I had to do this with Baby Girl so now she know's that when she comes into bed she has to go to sleep. Good luck lol

Yes, Summer (who's 4) sleeps with us. She sleeps either at our feet, or right between us. She used to sleep on our backs a lot. She usually wakes whoever is sleeping on the side closest to the door by walking all over meowing, purring and sometimes even licking our faces! Playing with her and feeding her at night instead helped her not do it so early, but she still does it! I think she's just an attention hog.

I miss having kitties sleep with me, but DH is allergic so our bedroom is a cat free zone. When Glory and Tiger were alive I used to wake up to let them in and out of my room at night, at least twice. It got so I really just slept through it and it didn't bother me. I'd try to do something to establish with them now that the bed is for sleeping. Good luck!

Emily and Smudge take turns lying on my pillow. I don't know when Smudge is there unless I wake and find her there, but Emily makes herself known, but purring and kneading my head. I usually have 3 cats plus 2 dogs sleeping with me at any given time.

They do sleep with us. Charcoal will put one paw in my face in the morning to wake me up. The other three take turns on the bed and pillows.

I can't sleep without at least one cat beside me. If I wake up during the night I might have anything between 1 and five in or on the bed. But Dushka and Ellie are pretty stable and stay there all night, the others come and go, though each one always comes and has a cuddle at least once during the night. It is always difficult teaching kittens not to wake you up deliberately but they do grow out of that very active phase eventually, as they learn the night is for sleeping. Like with human babies, it is just something you have to curse and live through!

I have two lovely Birman girls who will sleep in or on the bed every night. I usually go bed at around 10, and occassionally I will go to bed and they are already there waiting!

It's pretty cosy with me, DH and the two cats. How some people sleep with five I'll never know!

Heidy and Monty don't live with me so they haven't slept with me for ages, but I know what you mean about the kitten sitting on you and purring all night!
Heidy used to do that alot, and she was like a little motor, so sometimes she would keep me awake with her loud purring! Monty was the same, but he slept as close as he could by your side, they both were tiny but took up some moving room! lol. Ozkar was never cuddly at all, he is affectionate, and loves a good pat, but wont sleep with you. Sable is the same, she lives with me, and I leave my bedroom door open at night so she can come and sleep with me, but she doesnt really anymore, and if she does it will be at my feet. Maybe that will change in the winter! lol. There have been 2 rare times when she has slept on me like a little kitten, she isnt little anymore though! lol.

Teddy sleeps with us for at least some part of the night every night. Usually he sleeps at my feet or between my fiance' and I, and sometimes just next to me.

PJ doesn't sleep in the bed - in fact, she rarely visits the bed anymore. It sometimes becomes Teddy's territory for a few months and she'll stay away, which is sad.

For the first few months, one cat would get custody of the bed and the other would sleep on the trunk with the "cat blanket" on it. Now, both cats sleep with us, and they are big babies (both are about 13 lbs each) so they take up a LOT of room...not that I would trade anything in the world for it!

Napoleon has recently taken to sleeping on one of our pillows...Cassie sleeps at our feet, usually sprawled out lengthwise across the bed or parallel to me and BF. Last night, both kits were sprawled out parallel to me, with Napoleon between me and BF and Cassie on my side
. When I got up, Napoleon started smacking Cassie, so she got up (I guess to make him coffee, crabby cat, LOL).

Mostly, they both sleep in the bed with us, but some nights if Cassie is particularly crabby, she will kick Napoleon out of bed. It's funny, all you hear is a hiss and a growl, and she kicks him out!

Well, Carmelo can be a bed hog. If I don't get into bed the same time my wife does, I will find him in my spot with his head on the pillow. The bobcats will sleep on your feet and legs. One thing is for sure, we stay really warm on those cold cold nights

Hey, I like that idea of playing with the babies! My cats wake me up at the same time. I'm going to try it.

Thank you!

Thanks for the advice! At least I'm not the only one being woke up. I will try wearing them out before bed. I can't imagine a few dogs thrown in there too.I would feel like I was sleeping in a straight jacket, couldn't move a bit
I also will picture little fleas leaving their bodies and crawling/jumping into my hair....they don't have fleas but I still invision it! Thats another reason I'd prefer they sleep a little farther south on the bed

haha. Well, when the dogs are enorumus! (Bullmastiff, Rottweiler, Bouvier des Flandres) I wish that they would sleep at the other end of the bed too!
