scratching post

my kiten dosnet use the scratching post she had it for a 3 months she only 5 months she us eto play with it when we had her brother becuz he played with it but now she dosent scratch it she will just scratch the couch or wall i show her everyday atleast 5 times but she still dosent use it. what should i do?

You should try putting cat nip on it - or something else your cat will like the smell of. Also, to get Trixie to use her scratching post, I tied a toy on with a string that she could bat at, and eventually, I took it off, but she kept using it!

ive put catnip on it she used it when i put it on but not now

Your cat probably prefers scratching a different type of material, perhaps even prefers scratching horizontally. Look for a post with a different material and/or try the cardboard box type scratchers.

One mistake many people make with a scratching post is to get one of those short, cheap posts. A post has got to be 2 1/2 to 3 feet high, and quite sturdy, and exceedingly stable (meaning a wide, heavy base) or a cat isn't going to want to use it.

did you gently put her paws to it to show her how good it will feel??

yeah i do ever day a couple times a day
