Hi,

My cat has been itching the back of her neck and under her neck... losing fur in these locations. She starting to bleed a little from the scratching on the back of her neck. looks like little red dots in the locations. this has been going on for about 3 weeks now and I havnt noticed any fleas. shes about 13 years old

Any ideas or guesses?.. she'll prob be going to the vet in the next couple days.

Thanks

Could it be some type of allergy? Have you changed its food or bedding recently? What about ring worm? I would go and see and vet and see what they have to say about it.

My cat has the same problem. But he's licking the fur off near the bottom of his tail too. And he scratches a lot everywhere. Only his neck spots blood though.

I thought maybe he needed a bath, either being dirty or dry skin. He doesnt itch AS MUCH, but he still does a little. I cant tell if its natural scratching, or overly scratching.

Should I bring him to the vet? Or try giving him another bath in a few days?

It could be a variety of things (fleas, mange, allergies), and I would get her in to your vet for proper diagnoses and treatment.
In the meantime, you can clip her nails in order to minimize the damage (and pain) she creates to her neck as a result of scratching.
Good luck.
