There seems to be a lot of threads related to dogs and other "cat companion" animals of late. Most of them wind up in the Lounge because I think it's hard to identify where else to place them. Face it - a lot of us live with other animals that are companions to our cat babies and we love those critters as much as our cats. Have you ever considered starting a forum category for those critters that are companions to our cats?

Although it is a good suggestion, I'd rather see TCS as an "only cats" place. Don't misunderstand me since I do enjoy reading and contributing posts about the other companion animals here but not as a regular habit.

Anne and I talked a long time ago about this issue, and it was decided to keep this just the catsite. Just like Meowhoo.com our sister site which does not allow listings that involve both dogs and cats on to the site.

Yes, but this is why it may be a good idea to have a forum for other companion animals, probably living together with our cats - to keep them in a ghetto for themselves, so they are not pesting us f.eks. at the Lounge *smiling*

W/ all the IMO posts up now about cat discrinmination...I have to applaud TCS and their dedication to only cats......

Once in while posts about other animals are fine......But not their own forum...

Its about time Cats took center stage...........

Thanks MA! I was thinking more in the line of "when our cats must live with other species", not specific threads for other species. There are lessons to be learned about how cats interact with other species that are always interesting.

Although I live with only kitties, I can see that this new forum is already very popular.
Congratulations TCS, on an excellent decision.

I agree 100% that this was a wise decision. Please allow me to explain - having been a cat owner for much longer than a dog owner I joined a breed specific dog board for resources, and to get tips & advice. This particular dog board has many members who also have cats and the information I received has truly been invaluable. I understand that this is a cat site and respect that, however, those of us with other pets sometimes have important questions about our feline interaction(s). If someone has a suggestion that would help another member, i.e. keep a cat who is possibly being intimidated or dominated by their dog then this support is crucial.
I applaud this board for allowing members to continue chatting or posting pics of their "other" animal companions.
